Running wide open all the time you wont get a carbon build up, but back to the real world and how many run wide open all day long? A good wide open run after idling through a 1 mile or more no wake zone and having to come back through it at the end of day is not going to get rid of all the carbon no matter what oil you burn.
So is Decarboning a bad thing?? Wouldn't think so.

Do you decarb Ur sleds Dave ? I treat my boat motor the same way I do any other motor I own. Good gas , and the oil the manufacturing company recommends . The best part is none of my stuff loads up and if it did I would fix it
. I have seen car motors gummed up with only 50k but the was the owners fault. How many de carb there chain saws?

I do run Carbon Guard in the sled first run of the year, but lucky if I get whole year out of it before I try something stupid.
Way less money to experiment with the sled than the boat, its only got 2 pistons to replace and 2 cyl to re Nic.
Have a long way to go between the boat launch and the lake, long slow idle so for me I like to do the de-carbon thing. If I could put it in and drive it probably wouldn't worry about so much.

Do you decarb your chain saw. Good grief, yep, right after the weed wacker and just before the edger. Come on now, apples to apples.

Dumping all kinds of crap in Ur gas tank with a motor that runs on the ragged edge you are taking a chance of changing Ur octane rating and I will put money on it that you are not increasing it .

Just realize that many of these products contain alcohol (like SeaFoam) so if your runnong E10 your adding even more alcohol to the mix. I have found the only thing good about ethanol fuel is I no longer need to run any cleaning/decarbing additives.

If you REALLY want to clean your combustion chambers, bump up the idle and mist some water into the intake with a spray bottle. Nothing works better or safer.

I know a reputable engine tech who swears by adding a little ATF to the fuel in ALL engines. I put half a quart in my diesel truck on every fill up and also add a little to the fuel in the boats and cars. It acts as lube for the fuel pump/injectors and has detergents in it that help clean as you run. It is also CHEEP and sold everywhere!!!! Makes sense to me......

Sounds like a plan!
Thanks for the tip. Fixing to have a couple EFI motors running.
I do, along with my brush trimmer and leaf blower. BTW my leaf blower is over 17 yrs old and still runs like a top. Decarb has been working for me for years, why stop now?
