1973 checkmate mx15 lightened 2 seater, 1978 merc 175which i bought new in the crate for $3400, single cable steering & hand throttle...
.. very fun ride ,barrel rolled it once(tried a 28p cleaver)& prop blew out & swaped ends. back in the seventys it was the normal thing to have small boat big motor combo. a friend put a beefed 175 on a 13 checkmate with a homeade 15 mid. joe ward who ALLWAYS had small boats -big motor put an xs 70 with speedmaster on a 10 ft 3 point hydro. wish i had pictures.

Yeah, It might have been a bit too much. Too heavy anyway. 225 HP 3.0 Merc on the 16 foot Checkmate Enticer. Gave way to another too much motor at 260. Just fine 150 on there now.

10" fibreglass "I don't know what" -- we called it a Glastron, my brother pulled it off the bottom, we rebuilt a stove-in bow, it was 1/4" of 'glass and that was it--decked over with 1/4" plywood, Mark 55 40 hp Merc--for about a day.
Per Rock:
"Once I bought my first Hydrostream boating changed forever for me."
Per my hero Instigator:
"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."
