The truth hurts don't it? Harleys , triumphs, indians and a few other classics will still be around and ridden after people have forgotten the names honda, kawasaki, suzuki and yamaha.....
83 V-King, 96 Mariner, ff block 2.5 w/a 28p chopper
Ain't it great to have papa TRUMP back at the helm?

Gloves are off, bring it on..(and yes, I have HDs, and a CBR1000f", way more all, kinds, in the "stable")
Supersport bikes show highest death rates
Safety group reports that motorcyclist fatalities have more than doubled over the last decade, accounting for 11 percent of overall highway fatalities.
September 11 2007: 11:03 AM EDT
NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Riders of supersport motorcycles have a death rate that's three times as high as the overall average for motorbikes, said a study Tuesday.
There were 22.5 deaths per 10,000 registered motorcycles in 2005, compared to 7.5 deaths per 10,000 for all types of motorcycles, according to a study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
There were 4,050 motorcycle-related fatalities in 2005.
Supersport motorcycles have more powerful engines than most other bikes, and they are lighter, typically having more horsepower per pound than other types.
Many have higher horsepower per pound ratios than Nascar vehicles, and can reach speeds of 190 miles per hour...(Me..yep, now regulated to 186, which still means zip, as have a friend with a Turbo Busa", thats probably in 4th gear, "over the limit".....
"Supersport motorcycles are indeed nimble and quick, but they also can be deadly," said Anne McCartt, IIHS's senior vice president for research. "These bikes made up less than 10 percent of registered motorcycles in 2005 but accounted for over 25 percent of rider deaths. Their insurance losses were elevated, too."
Speeding and driver error caused more of the fatal crashes with supersport bikes, compared to other classes, with 57 percent of supersport riders' fatal crashes involving high speeds in 2005. This compares to 46 percent of the crashes of sport bikes, 27 percent of cruiser cases, and 22 percent of touring.
"Supersport motorcycles have such elevated crash death rates and insurance losses because many people ride them as if they were on a racetrack," McCartt said. "Short of banning supersport and sport motorcycles from public roadways, capping the speed of these street-legal racing machines at the factory might be one way to reduce their risk."
Supersport motorcycles are also popular targets for thieves. Their average theft loss payments per insured vehicle year were more than 7 times higher than the average for all 2002-06 bikes.
The second highest death rate was for sport and unclad sport bikes, which are similar to supersports, with 10.7 deaths per 10,000 motorcycles.
Harley-Davidson lowers forecast
Rates for other motorcycles were much lower. Cruisers and standards had a death rate of 5.7 per 10,000 bikes in 2005. The rate for touring motorcycles was 5.3 per 10,000.
At the same time, helmet use fell, with only 51 percent of riders now wearing helmets certified by the Department of Transportation, down from 71 percent five years ago.
Overall motorcycle ridership is rising, with registrations climbing 51 percent between 2000 and 2005.
Supersport bikes have seen some of the largest growth, with registrations rising 83 percent in that five-year period.Last edited by Robby321; 06-14-2012 at 08:07 PM.

Honda makes a nice generator. Quiet, light and easy on fuel. I'd recommend a Honda to anybody.
I wouldn't use one for a mud motor though. The Reverend, (Cedar Machine Service on Facebook)

Despite what I've said/posted, I like the old things. They have a place in history and played a part in WWII. Side cars and all. How many Jap bikes did that? I remember the guy that brought my Dad's car back from the repair shop. They had a pick up a delivery service.
And he was on a factory Harley Trike! He would pull my Dad's car out in the street, then hook the trike up to the rear bumper. Reverse when he brought it back.
NOTE that was a LONG time ago when most of the cars were built in America and usually had BIG chrome bumpers!
My friend has an anniversary V-Rod and it is beautiful! I told him if he ever sold it, to let me know. That thing is bad ass!
But then, I've always wanted an old Pan Head...Or an old military bike with a side car....

We know that, (but I seen, the old, then new, watch next, China, but thats our Gov, saving us..(from 2 Stokers!).., takes over. thing is, there was NO JAP bashing, any, this thread, just a few who had too get a "jab in,", on HD. ... until I got a little ticked off, and had to bring it up. That pic mine?.."jap bone yard?" DAMN, love to "pic" some that! And on the first Z1900..(Z1 right, or just a Z900?). In 1974, I had a brand new Monte Carlo. Friend had just bought the same bike. His wife crashed the car, in the shop, and he wanted to switch with me, his bike, my ride, as wanted to take the family to the "Drive-in Movies", for the night.
Holy ****! 750 Honda, ON STEROIDS! Wheel up, 1 to 3rd.., settle down and at 65 on the (Illinois Expressway), then nail IT!. Hit 120, passing 65 mph cars like parked!
No regrets THAT monster ride! And, I got still, got a "Stable full". HD, new and old, and CBR's (wow, GREAT MOTORS!)..2 honda scooters, Minitrail 70, more. And just did a "barn find", ols Trail 90 stuff, a CT 200 motor, a 65 Super 90, basket case motor. Cost.."get it out my barn!"

I get what you're laying down.. Like I said.. I have both myself. It just kills me all the "Harley Lifestyle" types that somehow have found a superiority in the millwaukee v-twin... Let alone the sh!t that came out of England back in the day (pretty and handled well.. But lucas electrics and crap castings/machining etc.... ). The truth is that the Japanese put the British companies out of business with better and cheaper bikes.. And Nearly did the Same to Harley Davidson in the 70's. It's an ironic joke to me when some guy on a modern Harley thinks my Dunstall CB750 in inferior Japanese junk. Especially when I have one of my own... lol. But hey.. .They are all motorcycles and they are all alot of fun...
Just my 2 cents.

Around here Harley riders are referred to as tractor riders.
I can see how some people like the nostalgia of riding something designed in the 40's........................................................................LETS STORM THE CASTLE BOYS!
