One of the most memorable times of my life was going fo the Orphian theatre back with my X wife in Boston to see Stevie Ray Vaughn with a bunch of friends the concert was incredible and afterwards she said let's go back stage. I was like what're you nuts and she said Stevie is a friend. WHAT!!! Well she said she was a roady with the Alman bros and Stevie was the warm up back then and she knew him. I was in the WTF mode so, we went back stage and the big goon we 1st ran into was like Little Nance that you? Holy crap it was for real we went back stage and hung out with Stevie for over an hour. He was such a cool low keyed amicable guy it was just after he got off dope we hung out and had a great time. A month later he was gone. Another great talent lost too soon.

On SRV, I remember the time he played at Alpine Valley. I didn't go that night, but I used to ski there, when I lived in Illinois. He never made it out alive. I have a old vinyl him and his brother, "The Vaughn Brothers, Family Style" Heres a little him at his best, "guitar lessons", more or less. Starts about 1 minute in. Dude play a guitar!

Damn, did I get the sails out my "wind" lately. Seems many that were 60 bands, only did voice?. 'THE WRECKING CREW".. did the instruments? Heres some text, and a full link..(and the book is out too, Amazon)

"The Wrecking Crew's members typically had backgrounds in jazz or classical music, but were highly versatile. The talents of this group of 'first call' players were used on almost every style of recording, including television theme songs, film scores, advertising jingles and almost every genre of American popular music, from The Monkees to Bing Crosby. Notable artists employing the Wrecking Crew's talents included Nancy Sinatra, Bobby Vee, The Partridge Family, The Mamas & the Papas, The Carpenters, The 5th Dimension, John Denver, The Beach Boys, Simon & Garfunkel, and Nat King Cole.
The figures most often associated with the Wrecking Crew are producer Phil Spector (who used the Crew to create his trademark "Wall of Sound"), and Beach Boys leader Brian Wilson, who used the Crew's talents on many of his mid-1960s productions including the songs "Good Vibrations", "California Girls", the acclaimed album Pet Sounds, and the original recordings for Smile. Members of the Wrecking Crew played on the first Byrds single recording, "Mr. Tambourine Man", because Columbia Records did not trust the skills of Byrd musicians except for Roger McGuinn. Further recordings of the Byrds were conditional on the success of the single. All of the Byrds played on their subsequent recordings. Spector used the Wrecking Crew on Leonard Cohen's fifth album"

    Heres the link..
