Can you build a merc that has 450 Hp and spins 8500-9000 on pump gas ? Not sure I ever heard of a merc doing more than 380 Hp, and that's on race fuel.

My old stock 77 ran 7200 rpm for years and is still running strong with no rebuild. Right Mark?

While im here i may as well ask, what older rude mid sections will be the same stud patterns to fit a 150HO powerhead?

Evinrude's Etec is far superior to Merc's Optimax in terms of reliability.

60* motors are similar there may be a few differences. I will try to remember to compare the 60* 200 with a old 150 60* and get back to you. I am running a 1 off billet adapter so it shouldnt be hard to make one work.

Actual 6 bolts that go thru the mid to the powerhead/adapter have been the same pattern since the 90 degree 6, they have changed botl size but thats on the 90 degree looper. The 60 degree mid does have a different passage at the rear than the other partly because it does not use an adapter it built into the powerhead.
