Dude, you need to start a completely new thread about this, none of us knew this.......you need to give us ALL the facts to start with................this throws a whole new monkey wrench into this discussion.

There's at least 15 pages about left hand vs. right hand guns.

LOL, since he is obviously in no hurry, maybe he should watch the gun shows on the Outdoor channel.....for some strange reason a large percentage of those goofballs are wrong handed, and discuss lefthanded guns all the time.

Here are my guns......I have more, but that is most of them.

Hand dominance has a bearing on the issue, have you checked to see what eye your are dominant with? Might as well get this out while we are on the subject. Although it won't matter as much with a handgun as much as a rifle. Most glocks, springfields and walthers I know can be either ambidextrous or converted. 1911's also, but for a good one will be above your price point, but well worth the money for your situation. But training is the key in your situation. I can actuate the functions on my gun almost as well lefty as right as righty (I am a righty and right eye dominant). All this really means is you need to use a finger on your left hand to actuate guns that aren't completely ambidextrous or converted (middle finger is what I use for magazine release).

You are going to buy more than one gun, just buy a good reliable one to begin with. You have a lot of options here. You should pick one reliable gun that can be carried but is fun to shoot and a good training gun. Worry about the munchkin guns later. Get to shootin and trainin, be safe and have fun. When in doubt, go with glock, springfield XD or Smith/wesson M&P.

I regularly carry a glock 19, some carry bigger, some smaller. Depends on clothing and comfort. I barely notice mine (just enough to know it is there when I may need it). Although for those days when I want something smaller I have a Kahr PM9.

    3 reasons I recomend a revolver-

Its your first gun (and its for self defence)

    You are left handed!!

Almost 100% reliability with a wheel gun (you pull trigger, gun goes bang)

Good point..I really want something VERY light weight...Under 10 oz empty. The only revolver I found so far were the NAA .22 caliber, but according to many here I might as well have a stick

There are a lot of Professional hit men that use .22 weapons [probably a Magnum] because they penetrate and richochet all around and don't exit.

I shoot left handed, blind in right eye, can shoot right handed also and have never found it a problem shooting lefty with revolvers or semi-autos. It's all a matter of getting to the range and practice, practice, practice.
