Bigger is better!!!
32 is where I'd draw the line on a self defense weapon. In shooting trials, anything under .40 you have to double tap (so I hear from my cop buddies).
I would rather have a double shot derringer in 38 special or better.

Just remember if you have an concelled to carry weapon and you alter it in any way, you open yourself up to multitudes of civil action if you use it,even if it a justified shooting. JMO

That may be true in the peoples republic of NJ but, it doesn't in most states that allow open carry. I've been thru them all and have been in combat and had to use side arms in the service and have been involved in "justified" shootings in my civilain life and have to say never give up firepower for comfort and size. I use to always carry a 1911 style 45. utill I got used to the Springfield. Do yourself a favor pay a little more and get the gun you like.
Yes Kevin I gave up my carry Kimber........................................................................LETS STORM THE CASTLE BOYS!

Using handloads for self defence is also a very bad idea.

Last some posts, ..yep, a double tap, 38 Hallows, should stop any threat...and (I don't wanna go here, but its the way the US works now, GD libs, AH judges..)...if some scumbag is on my prop, and I feel "life threatened", well, one us gonna be DOA, and the other in jail/court for years. Ya always have to remember, ya pull a weapon, squeeze, your life will change forever..(my Merc guru here, a street cop, detective, now sometime HS "resource officer", or doing traffic. Seen it all, done it all, his kid just gradded out the WA State Patrol. I got any questions, I got a damn good source, an answer. Best I can say here, any "popping some one", better be well justified the action. As the Lib courts will blame YOU, a hell of a lot more, any Perp. And still break yer back, legal, run yer bank account, into the "legal BS", to theres...
