    Jamesgang, nice video.

There is a guy up the river around our way with 3 - 300X's. It's an awesome sound.

The hull that you have has hooks in the chines and the best you can probably expect unless you remove them is about 72 to 74. Huge drop off in performance from a 88 to a 89 hull. KB5050 says you need 20" and I think he's correct but I'm not positive.

AmityRay on here has an '89 with a 300PM, 12" setback, and is knocking on the 80mph door. The Regal boats are heavier than the Stepp ones, so I don't think the 260 would push it mid 80s...

Jim is right, they have hooks in the bottom - but I don't think the ones on the chines matter at top speeds. If you are up on the pad, the chines aren't even getting wet anymore, at least, not if it's relatively calm. Some people have report hooks in the strakes and pad too....that would make more of a top end difference, imho.

You will probably end up using a 24 Chopper 26 if you had an older hull. Mike (mikeylarge) has a 3 liter and will be trying a 28 Chopper. You have a 2.5 that needs to be able to spin higher Rs to be in the power curve and on your hull I think the 24 is gona be best.

    That sounds right...my 2.4 V225 turns a 24p chopper at 6100-6200 for 65mph...the 260 would turn about 7k, right?

Yes, the Regal Velocitys especially need bow lift...that's why they run good with a 3L on them, more weight in the back to offset the cuddy.

Sorry, no idea how the 26p Offshore would work...

In my opinion I could run a 15 inch mid on my boat no problem. I have a 225 3.0 liter and i am going to run a 28x14.5 chopper and honestly i think i am going to pop rev limiter. I am damn near the 80 mph mark myself but i do have a stripped down stepp hull

I think you should drag that thing to Melbourne, test it out and report back to us
