I have been on that Red Lodge road many times man. You had a picture of Mount Pilot. It is the real pointed one in the Bear Tooths. I would back-country ski up there(outside of Cook) about six miles and stay in a 10 by 10 cabin in the middle of winter. After you went to bed in your sleeping bag, the mice would run all over you for the rest of the night. You got used to it! The cabin was built by an old miner in the 1800's and his name was Adam Hornmiller. The walls were covered with flattened out tobacco tins and the rule was to leave more than you took. People would leave Whiskey,Mushrooms,Pot,food,grass you name it! I need a road trip now!

I get WAY the heel back in there, and sure as chit, a ranger is on my azz.!

Said, .."I know people here, camping on the river!"..said , Bull puppys, no pass, ya gotta LEAVE..NOW!. Followed me all the way out! So I ride back the 4 miles out, north, KNOWING, the next is a good 5/6 hour drive south, Teton's. and I'm beat up.
So I ride back out the park..(Cook/Silver?), just outside the park.

Grab a State campground, wants $5 a night. out side think "Cook/Silver" I only have no less than a $20..dropped off the "lope". and campsite #, and a note.."keep the change"
Next morning, the dude shows up, who runs the campground, bangs on my tent..says.."saw yer plate on the bike, from Illinois, right?..Yep, month the road, got tossed out YS. "
Said..yer money no good here...heres the $20 back..have a nice ride!"
And thats the story!...BUT WAIT..
Somewhere at 3 in the morning, some idiot, who probably does it nightly, comes off the back side the ""Tooth" into YS. Probably worked Cook/Silver city'
NOTHING BUT BACKFIRE, OFF THE RIDE, GAS IT, SWITCH THE IGNITION OFF, WAIT..THEN THE DAMN "BACKFIRE".. my kinda people!

Sound travels FAR, in the mountains!...and just "pissing ya off"!.

Gotta love those Rednecks!

I usually tried to spend my days off outside of the park because of all the rules. The Bear Toothes are my favorite mountains on earth! I'm sure it has all changed,I havn't been back since 1990 or so. And the redneck stories, I got a few of those too!

NO..HAS NOT CHANGED . done first, 91, last, 3 years ago. Yep, park rangers Y/S SUCK...'but they work the "Gov".,.I was just beat up, TIRED, and wanted too simply CRASH. Been the road 2 weeks already, and just me and the bike, and a tent. And "tossed out". my own freaking "Country"?..

Heres some pix, some motel, last ride, in Red Lodge..on the "Tooth" ride out. Some ski resort across the street, the west side the road..
A Motel, $35 a night, told the girl.."I got a dog with me, cool?". She said "doggys stay free, , but ya owe me $35!.yer azz..knock off $5, if it will play with my doggy!
