Ya know, I remember that song well, HS, beyond, but after all these years, never saw it put in the context of Nam...! Good catch!

Yeah, brings up old mems...(only lost 2 friends Nam..those I grew up with anyway..those meet there, is another story)..one was a friends brother, early 64, 5 years before I got there. Then, another, who I grew up with as kids, well, he moved before HS, and we lost touch. About 5 years ago, we started a Yahoo HS group. Another friend, Nam Vet..(he can't get Nam out his head..PTSD..me?..nother day in the life..move on).
Anyway, he did some digging up old Stevie, who we lost touch with.
Well seems he went to Nam about the same time me. He was born 1949..( I've since talked to his cousin)..he was a New Years Eve baby. Few minutes later, would have been 1950, like me. He was killed along with 13 others, friendly fire, miss guided coordinates out in the bush, calling in artillery...when?...Christmas Eve. 1969

Good kid, tough life..(parents were crap my book, divorced, always fighting..), ...he is missed by me.

Few pix coming..me, my gun truck..(I was the Convoy mechanic..still a good "wrench twirler"..and my buddy Steve...

PS..I LIKE when ya all post that thought, some tune, and the mems!

This thread has a lotta "life"..to go..(Greg probably wondering if we will EVER get braindead!)
