I remember reading the Hot Boat article on that V22 and the twin Challenger....don't remember which was faster and / or better riding.
Makes me want to find a twin for my old 2.4....1983 Shadow 21, Yamaha 250 HPDI
1961 Grumman 13, Johnson 15, "Gunkhole"
1931 Hacker Hydro, Phantom 75
1930 Sea Lyon 28, Scripps 208, "Tomahawk"
1929 Chris Craft 24, Chrysler 115, "Reflection"

I finally ran the boat today, With the motor set very low (for break in), my father and I, and 40 gallons of fuel the boat ran 50 mph at just about 4000 rpm. I cant wait to get the motor broken in and finally start to dial this boat in and enjoy it

Mike what pitch prop are starting with??? I hit 50 MPH right around 4300-4400. I am running a 24P 3 blade labbed with a bit more cup. Right now I am hitting 70 with a little chop and touching the rev limiter every so often. At this point my best guess would be 73-74 with that light set-up you have. The best thing I have done so far is remove my bottom paoint and put that light weight back seat in. I am getting better speeds out of it even extra people and coolers...LOL
Boats love hundred dollar bills.

Edit: I recently purchased a 2004 Velocity 220. It was laid up with S-glass and vinylester resin; it has an external latham steering, stainless marine hydraulic jack plate, plus lots more. No engine though.
Here are two pictures of (what was) my velocity. I bought it used (hull only) in 1992 from Hilsboro Marine in Pompano Fl., and sold it in 2003. The pictures were taken in Antigua. The boat is a 1984 Steve Stepp built boat. The engine was a 1985 Merc 3.4 with a 20 inch shaft and low water pickup (the engine cover was from a later model Merc). The prop was a Knocky (Hollywood Florida) worked 24 chopper. The floors, stringer, and bulkheads were all redone (by myself) using marine ply and West System Epoxy. The boat did ~73 mph with that set up.Last edited by modvp; 08-22-2009 at 08:41 PM.

Nice looking boat. It's easy to see how much cockpit room these boats have. It's really great when you have 4-6 people on board.
Hey Mikey, what's doin with that thing, you hiting 70 plus yet???Boats love hundred dollar bills.
