03 225 3 liter merc. Hopefully I will see 75 mph with the motor stock, but I have never personally ran this hull before so I guess we will see what it does in a month or so once the motor is all broken in, and I dial the boat in.

Weight
Hey Jup, how much does a Pulsar hull weigh?????????? I think I read that the Velocity Hull "Stepp" is around 1400lbs. n change. Lighter than I thought to be honest.
Mike Large, check out my new clear coat job, I went ahead and put 3 coats on, it should buff out nice. The first pic is just before I shot it.Last edited by HighVelocity; 04-27-2009 at 01:01 PM.

The Stepp V22 is 1411 lbs in the catalog ad I have....
Nice job both of you guys! Both boats are looking great. I might have to hire one of you to come upstate and repaint mine!

Jupiter- Remember you have an older motor then I do. The newer motors run stronger then the old ones do (early 3 liters tend to put out less then advertised), also I have literally nothing inside of the boat, 2 seats, a battery and thats about it besides rigging/guages. It will hit 75 mph even if i have to start cutting some weight out
Highvelocity- The boat looks great, it should sand out nice, I have to redue my top deck next winter, right now i just want to drive this thing

The older 225's are a little lazy on the bottom end because they don't have the 4-butterfly intake but they're pretty consistant on the top end. The Pulsare hull weight is advertised at 1375 lbs so the boats are pretty close in both weight and dimensions. With your light set up you will probably exceed those numbers!! I owned a Velocity for years and it was one of the most fun boats to drive!! You can really feel the boat come up on that wide pad and with the cupped chines the boat turns on rails!!! A little tad of advise...if you get airborne, make sure you roll the throttle on when you reenter the water or you will land hard!! The wide pad makes for some harsh landings if you don't time your throttling...I spent years running the open ocean and big swells in my Velocity so I learned the hard way!! no pun intended! lol Keep us posted on your progress, the boat looks awesome!!

Hopefully we will have a rainy weekend here so that I have no outside work and i can get alot of stuff done
I will keep this thread updated
Jupiter- Also the early 3 liters have a much more restrictive exhaust tuner in comparison to the new 3 liters. This thing will go 75+ one of these days but hopefully i can get damn close with a stock motor, that would be an impressive number for my set upLast edited by mikeylarge; 04-28-2009 at 04:48 PM.

That Jack Plate looks like a serious piece of hardware. I know you said the Hydro was pricey right now, but that plate doesn't look cheap. Who is that made by, Bob's??? Very nice! BTW my 12 inch Bob's hyd. was a G.Boats love hundred dollar bills.

That is a hydrodynamics 12 inch rapid jack. I was looking into going hydrolic, but for the extra 6-700 I figured I would see how the boat does with a manual jackplate on it first. And as far as price is concerned the hydrodynamics is very close to a detweiler jackplate.

I am just waiting on some parts for teh speedo, that is why it is not in place
Next year I am going to redue the carbon fiber look on the dash board the real way, the panels are a little wavy, but it will work for the season
