The Daytona's must have been similar to what Molly Ballou's brother made. The powerheads seem to be real close to the water. Find any photos yet?

    standing!!

Used to have pix's somewhere of an aluminum Offshore boat from the early 70's at a race w/tripple Chrysler stackers.
I follwed them around in my 8' hydro while they were testing.
I think I had a little tiny chub from that awesome sound!

A have an origonal magazine story on the boat w/the quad McCullochs too.

    Can't believe I did that.

I've got a bunch old mag's back into the early 70's that I'm going to go through and scan all the ad's out of. Some neat stuff in there.

Yep, that's it. The article has been posted on SnF at least twice before.

The low down from the McCulloch racing team is that it was built as a publicity showpiece for a particular customer, not a competitive raceboat. Bob Kies, the chief of the McC racing effort and Jack Oxley both recalled that the other member of the team, Danny Snead was involved with Stylecraft building the boat and setting up the motors. They also remembered it was displayed at some events like grocery store and used car lot grand openings, but neither recalled that it ever had been raced. It was entered at Havasu one Thanksgiving, but the only picture of it at the race is after it was pulled up in the sand as a DNF.

Kies and Oxley said it was conceived and built after the McC motors and Stylecraft boat were both no longer competitive. The motors were not all 5 actual production motors, some were cobbled together parts from several years, not the best parts from the last highest power/most durable version (they didn't have to be, since it was intended for show, not go).

    Interesting.

And yeah I know I have posted that full article on here before.

Interesting in that same issue of Hot Boat was coverage of 2 or 3 Marathon O/B races and all the front running boats ran triples.
Was back when there was as many OMC's as Mercs

Cool story on that boat too Sam. I know the article itself doesn't say much about performance and common sense would say with that much weight and drag there's no way it would be fast.
Didn't I read somewhere that the "Super C's" were a derivative of the McCullough's?

From the looks of the battery in it, it could have been electric powered!
