Rich, Rich, Rich, us BMXers do not "wheelie". A wheelie is a 70s trick.
We "manual" now - and it's much harder, but useful in a race. Try doing this:

I just got off the phone with my buddy that I gave my Mongoose to 20 years ago and he said it's still in his parents garage
Looks like I have a little Resto project I need to bring down from N.Y.

Bill, bring it down and I'll come over and bring my tools.
Was it a Californian? One of the nicest bikes of the day. That red Californian Pro Class is so sexy lookin' (at least to a 14 year old kid it was). I'm glad to see that Mongoose is finally making a comeback too.

Okay, last one. The one and only. The Hutch Aerospeed cranks alone are worth $800 used today - mint units have gone for as much as $2000. The Hutch pedals are worth an easy $500 today as well. The ABA banned them because they were causing too many injuries since the cages were like saw blades. I remember having to remove mine for that reason.
I had a raced Hutch Judges back in the day with Redline 401 Flights and the Hutch pedals. I never wanted the Aerospeed cranks since they had a bad habit of cracking spindles. They were super light though, and that Pro Star is every bit as light as today's lightest bikes. That's one reason they are so rare. I should have kept my Hutches.
Find one of these in mint condition, complete and it will fetch $4000 or more.

it was so longago i dont even remember... have to see if there is any pics of it.... all i remember is it was black frame with red decals and fo another 150.00 i could have gotten it with a rockshox front fork.. but we were to poor for any more $$$$ spent on a bike especially after it got stolen. it was the first 21 speed they built i was in 3rd grade so that would have been 1989-90ish... the bike itself was probably a 1987.. it took a year for us to pay it off, and yea it was a bit over priced.. but in a town of 3000 people and a single bike shop at the time it was what it was...
only bike i could get 60 mph out of down the road from my house.. it was seriously fast...
mind you i had a 15* 1/4 mile long drive way to a 2 mile 10-15* down grade to the river bead so speed came easy... gearing to get back up was the biggest problem..Last edited by 150aintenuff; 06-17-2007 at 04:00 PM.

Mongoose needs to get out of the dual-marketing nonsense and stop selling bikes in Walmart. That's killing their reputation. They have good high-end bikes now, and I hear they are moving out of the low-end market.

Greg , Cool vidieo clip ,but how is that useful in racing ? Also in case you haven't noticed , your in Florida now . It will be a little harder to find such an incline as that to work with . I say Lets Wheelie, I prefer the peddling . I'll start looking for an old school bike for RR .We On ? Rich Martin 018

Clean , Nice Mongoose with Moto Mags . I remember those well .Came from the times of the Webco, ProStar ,MCS and FMF just to name a few . Loved the mags ,only wheels I realy had to try and break . Still my favorite olds school was a Stingray with RedLines and MotoMags . Time to start shopping . Rich Martin 018
