I've looked a bit on this thread but I didn't notice anything on Valero, 18', restores. Well at least that's what model Stream I believe it is that I'm going to get. It' stripped down to the stringers and has the primmer already applied. No knicks or cracks, it just needs the stringgers redone, Oh and since it's open I'll make sure the transom has some extra strenght. I was thinking of putting a center seat, I think it has the steering on the side, port? LOLs shows how much I know!
Anyway I guess the boat is from the late 80s and the trailer is in fair shape, has no motor but it's FREE!
Now I'll expect to pay about $1200 for steering, I'll run about 250HP on it, and as far as a jack plate, hydr?, and set back I'm at a loss with weither I need it or not, I would guees so??
I know I can get a good paint job, like the new Streams, or just paint it white at the same time I paint my Banana which would cost very little extra. Now I'm sure a windshield, the newer curved ones, would run about $1200 or so? The seats I can get very cheap, I'm thinking of the drivers seat and two seats at the back. To do all this, make it mint condition, I'm thinking it may only cost 6-7K? I've got my modified GT 200s of which I'll use one and sell the other. Does this sound like a smart restore and can anyone give feeback on the older 18' Streams? Thanks!
