Wave to Wave has an account of a guy who swapped out a 225 Promax for a 200R and the new motor was quite a bit faster.

I may well be ugly. I have a niece that calls me Uncle Ugly. But at 6'2" and 164 lb, I am not fat.

Interesting i didn't think a 200r would rev out like a promax and weigh quite a bit more

I was told buy a guy whos name I wont mention.. Lets just say hes driven, set up and tested lots of go fast boats.. That while the top speed number between a stock Promax and a 200R are somewhat comparable the acceleration and torque of the Promax is much stronger.. I wish someone would do a direct head to head and post the actual side by side results.. Like Fastbass has done with props and 300XS vs 300R

Why are we comparing a 200R to a ProMax 225? Shouldn't we be comparing a 200R to a ProMax 200? Seems like that would be a more fair comparison. 12.5% more power is a lot. A 225 should be faster then a 200 no matter how many strokes it is..

Can’t speak for anyone else but I’m doing it because I have a Promax and Merc isn’t currently producing a 225R. So that’s the comparison that is available to me.

Well that's a damn good reason.

I would like to see a head to head comparison also. I keep hearing the 200R keeps up with the ProMax 225. I would like to see how close it really is. I would really like to see a fair comparison. A 200R vs a Promax 200. Both on the same model boat. If the 200R keeps up with the ProMax225, will it beat a ProMax 200? Truth be told, no matter the result, if $ values were equal, I would still take the 2 stroke.

Thank you for posting this.. Was the same amount of effort, setup and prop testing done with the Promax to get high 70s as what is currently being put into the 200R?

Thanks David. That is the opposite of what I was expecting. For clarity High 70s with a ProMax 200 or 225?

FFS guys, OP is just trying to sell a motor. Go to one of the hundred threads comparing the "new" motors against the +/- 20 year old ones if you feel compelled to continue the fight. Leave this guys for sale thread alone.

I get your point but.. All we are effectively doing is getting more eyeballs on his ad and bumping it to the top. Next time I have something for sale on here I hope yall start a huge battle on my thread! 🤷*♂️
