The BF 150 is a K24 engine, can produce lots of power. We were working on a project with 4Piston Racing tuning one. Made over 300 HP. Honda is incredibly inept in their marine department. They wanted to work with us but they were a little clueless and wanted more of a marketing project. It was a mistake involving them.

The project was completed but the follow through didn't happen because of corporate stuff.

Hopefully if and when things get back to something like normal you can finish your story on the Honda/turbo project. I for one would love to read some intel on it. HP figures, How they did the dyno pulls and stuff such as that. I believe there was tons of potential with the Wagner project that they never got to.

Ive looked at this and from an engineering perspective I cant get past the heat issue.
Too much heat under the Cowl.
    Superchargers are cooler

Ive run a turbo conversion on a PWC and can vouch that heat control is critical. However, small (Honda PWC), medium (marine diesel), and large (mercury 1350) water jacketed turbines are available. I had to build a bolt-on clam-shell water jacket for mine.

MHI (Mitsubishi) has supplied turbos to Honda forever. They wouldn't have to go outside normal sources for parts if they choose to build anything.

Month of May, they will have a heavy presence at the brickyard.

Now that the "green new scam is done" don't expect to see so many "plugged" commercials

I’ve been saying this for YEARS! The K24’s can be built to pump out 1000hp and be fairly reliable. I read an article the other day about how they’re getting 1700+ HP from some of em, but those aren’t meant for long term/daily use obviously.

I guess I don’t understand why they (all manufacturers) won’t get more HP from the their current lineup. U can’t tell me they can only get 150HP from the 4 cylinder 4 strokes
    Or 200hp from a 4.3L 6 cylinder. C’mon.

Someone’s gonna do it and the big names are gonna be sitting there choking on the smoke. A sub 500lb outboard that’s cranking out 300+ ponies would pretty much kill it right now.

This is my 15inch outboard platform.
The top plate is interchangeable so that it can marry up with any powerhead that has a base face.
Also, the cowl base is changed easily.
It was designed specifically to carry a 4 stroke powerhead, although it's currently running a 2.5 Merc
It's now obvious to me that the K24 is the motor to work with.
The turbo heat issue just means that the cowl design needs to be creative, and for racing that shouldn't be too difficult to achieve.
It's a really low configuration, just like an f1 12 inch.
That base plate sits down hard on top of the standard v6 Merc clamp.
The design is specifically for racing where the motor height needs to be as low as possible, but still be suitable for a 20inch transom.
So this 15.5inch setup is able to run the propshaft 2inches below pad, with the clamp hard down on a 20inch transom.
