    Melvin Riggs passed away

    Melvin Riggs passed away.
    He had fallen at work a few weeks ago and fractured his hip and never recovered do to other health issues.
    Sorry for the bad news.
    He was and still is regarded as one of the best throttle men in offshore racing.
    One of Mr K top guys back in the day

    Melvin Leroy Riggs, 86, of Eldorado, died on Saturday, November 30, 2024.
    He was born on December 24, 1937, in Sutton’s Bay, Michigan, the son of James and Edith Pettengill Riggs. He served in the United States Army, serving in Germany. On July 15, 1961, he married Shirley A. Ott in Eldorado.
    Melvin worked for Leith Furniture, Kiekhaefer Aero Marine, Lake X Florida, and the Secretary General of Italy. He raced for Kiekhaefer, the Secretary General of Italy, and Sandy Satullo. He owned Riggs Marine and was a Mr. Marine partner. He was a member of Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, liked to bowl and enjoyed playing cards.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Shirley, his sons: Timothy (Kelley) of Markesan, Tracy (Cheryl) of Ripon, Troy (Cynthia) of Fond du Lac, and his daughter Mindy of Eldorado; his grandchildren: Robert “RJ” (Lisa) Rabe, Danielle (Bobby) Rickmeyer, Alexis Riggs, Nicholas Riggs, his great-grandchildren: Riggs and Reid Rickmeyer, step-grandchildren:, Jake (Carissa) Miller, Jessica Miller and Erica Radloff; four step great-grandchildren; his sisters-in-law: Betty Madison and Janice Ott, many nieces, nephews and friends.
    He is preceded in death by his parents, his in-laws George and Nathaleen, his siblings: James, Gordon, Robert, Don, Roger, Ronnie, Jean, Kathryn, Anita, Alice, and Helen; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
    Melvin’s family would like to express thanks to Aurora of Oshkosh as well as Bethel Home.
    Per Mels wishes, there will be no funeral.

    Wow. I am very sorry to hear that. Thank you for posting. Mel was a cool guy. A Legend that ran deep with Tons of knowledge, resources and abilities. The shop at the farm was always a great visit for me.

    I stopped by Riggs marine to pick up some alpha one gears, found Troy, Tracy Mels sons and his wife to be in great spirit, we talked old stories and had few chuckles. I took the liberty of wishing from all of you on this board our heart felt Condolences, witch was answered with a heartwarming THANK YOU ALL
