Even if Fuji's graph is right, (and I actually don't doubt it), the 800,000 year sample given in the graph is only one 5000th of the earth’s history. Let that sink in. There were 65 MILLION years between the time the last dinosaur died, and the beginning of the minuscule slice that that 800,000 year (not even a single million years), sample represents. You would need to line up Fuji’s graph one after the other, 70 times over, just to reach back to the last dinosaurs. You have to line up Fuji’s graph 400 time, to reach back to the first dino’s. And the Dino’s existed for 200 MILLION years before the last one died. And even at that the entire existence of the dinosaurs was less than 1/20th of the earth's history.

Our water planet's history is much bigger than we delicate, short-lived land creatures can grasp.

@pcrussell50 Excellent posts, very informative, especially with the perspective of the whole spectrum of time. Which leads me to a couple questions. 1- How do you (they) come up with the total lifespan of the planet? And how many years would be an acceptable as a sample size? Figuring on the earth cycling the sun every 365 days, can you extrapolate (I got my one big word of the day out of the way, yay) any level of significance from the 800k mark? It's a very interesting topic. There have been so many phases, and it's always interesting to me how certain people can be on these things. Pretty wild when you think aboot it. We're all just a grain of sand on the beach in time.

I have a fair amount of industrial electrical maintenance, and have done a bunch of data logging on equipment, so finding trends and patterns is interesting to me. Its fun to be able to calculate when maintenance/ replacement is needed to avoid catastrophic events.

    Thanks for your post.

Might as well start getting used to that!

Hydrogen might make sense for long distance trucks, but for cars, it seems goofy

I've lived in Florida my whole life. (66 years) I've been in or close enough to every hurricane to at least feel the effects of the outer bands.
Hurricane Milton had 120 tornadoes ahead of it on the east coast of Florida before the eye ever touched down on the west coast of the state.
Lots of devastation, destruction and for many, the AC power went out.
There were no gay azz battery cars running around. Same for work trucks, generator and chain saws. Nope, they were all either gas or diesel.
While the dreamers and paper pushing engineers can think that they're multiplex demodulator auto-sukk 2025 is just around the corner .. back to reality, just for today, they were begging for a ride and a can of beenie-weenie's heated over a can of sterno ..
