ID:	524652 I would just grind the carrier to fit. Measuring tools would be nice though.

The general consensus among the legends here like TL, is to not mess with the the butterfly linkage for idle speed, but to fine tune idle speed with the idle timing pickup… in gear in water, with the prop you plan to use.

Just find the two yellow/red wires in the shift control box that go to the neutral safety switch and cut them off of the switch where they are soldered on. Cut them right at the soldered terminals. Now hook them together again and you have bypassed the switch. They are under the edge of the steel plate. Carter Powell

ID:	524690 Well she’s a runner! Ran about 64/65 at a little over over 6k rpm’s. Didn’t get warm till we got out of the 5 but then warmed right up. Had the lady, dog, bin of parts, toolbox, & tool bag, etc. was just starting to get light at 65 but we didn’t have jackets or anything on so I called it good there. Overall very happy for first time out def still stuff to dial in. Thank you all for your help!

Super nice boat. Performance bow riders with outboards are as rare as hen’s teeth. At any given time on craigslist, there are exactly zero on the west coast and southwest. Though they do pop up… rarely. And even fewer pretty much anywhere else. We feel extraordinarily lucky that we managed to snag one a few years back.

I ran it with the poppet valve assembly installed but no carrier or rubber grommet so I’m guessing it essentially ran as though the poppet was open the whole time. I ran it on the trailer for awhile and it wasn’t really heating up, made the call to go put it under load but monitor it and it came up to temp pretty quickly and then I just kept checking it and verifying it had water coming out of the thermostat dumps. Was super nervous about cold sieving it at first but water was also pretty warm and I kept checking it constantly

Thank you guys! Yeah I really like the open bow, I’m sure heavier but seems more useable to me. I watched it for over a month, guy wouldn’t really budge on price but we ended up doing better than expected on our previous boat and said screw it. Questioned it a few times in last few weeks but pretty stoked with it! Definitely still have some stuff to dial in and looking forward to getting comfortable and running it harder!

Does anybody have a better solution than turning down the carrier I have to fit in the block? Gonna be a pain to hold it but can probably figure it out

Wish I could help, mate. But mostly I’m just blown away that the bore in the block is wrong-sized for a stock poppet. And that there aren’t dozens of Bridgeports out there that have been “de-racifed” (made up word) and set up with poppet and thermostats. Meantime, I’d be searching hard for the one-piece mid that the legends say is supposed to go with the Bridgeport.

Side question: Can a fully stock Bridgeport with one-piece mid, no poppet and no thermostats make a good recreational motor? Or is it just too racy?

Doesn't have to be perfect, you can glue it in. The block I measured is about .002 interference fit. you would have to drive the carrier in. Block is 1.498", carrier is 1.500". On a side note I've been getting some extra large oil injection block offs lately. Been having to grind a fair amount off to fit. Could be the same company making the junk?
