When I went to work at Drydock Marine a Johnson Dealer in 1986 they had 2 very large boxes full of Spirt and Suzuki parts. Dan the owner said OMC told them US or them. At that time Johnson sold better so that was the way he went. He also said Suzuki parts were very hard to get at that time.

Waterfront property is an exception. It used to be that industry needed/wanted to be located on waterfront. Now road access and to a lesser extent rail access is far more important than waterfront. In both Windsor where I lived for a long time, and Orillia the closest city now, all the waterfront had transitioned from industrial to recreational or residential.

It does concern me that marina's are selling out to condo developers.

I wonder if its the jones act that stops exporters being on the waterfront so all goods need to be transported to a large port as foreign ships can only do a single port stop?

    Power ol boy,

Not sure who Jonesy is, or what their act entails. But I can tell you that growing up in Miami .. that there were a multitude of inport~export shallow water, dimly lit, ports of entry into the United States that operated with the upmost efficiency ...

Todays hysteresis in the supply chain is directly related to FJB ..

In those days .. there was no pay-pal and bank transfers were a no-no. So I'd say those same ports exported .. stacks of green paper ..

...i came up with that slogan when i was in the business back in the 80's/90's. years later, in 2005, i posted it to a midnight thread on offshoreonly. shortly after, a gentleman that goes by enforcer2 on offshoreonly found an old 37 midnight that had never been rigged, scraped together four 3.0 mercury outboards & rigged the boat out pretty nicely. he was searching for midnight express stickers to finish the rig job out, but couldn't find anything. he always remembered my old post & decided to have those large logo/stickers made & slapped them on his new pride & joy...
