    Hp per cylinder

In the outboard performance world what is the new normal as far as hp per cylinder. With the advance in technology I assume some should be able to squeeze 100 per hole by now. Any thoughts?

Without an expansion chamber , thats a pretty lofty goal.

2 HP per cubic inch is doable ..

the better quistion to ask would be what would be normal HP per liter today ( thermal effeciency )
100HP per liter is not uncommon while staying in one piece

so you can see the the 3 liter mercury 150 fourstroke is underpowerd
that's why Chaz is going to install a Turbo on one and show us how it,s done!
meanwhile we get to sit on the beach with a beer in hand

    just buy a 150 3 cyl e-tec, 1.9ltr
PS I always wondered about dynamic misfire on a DFI outboard? big decrease in low speed fuel consumption?

Can't imagine running a turbo without a modern EFI with deto and EGT sensors... $hit happens too fast under boost!

Well if we’re going to include goofy **** that never really worked, let’s not forget this.

From the fertile mind of Rick Gillman.

Rick got it running pretty good but what he described was the same as the turbo.

Had to tune it for your target rpm.

That blown V8 that Rick built worked quite well for a lake motor. Rick could not get it to rev as high as he wanted it to. He broke the blower shaft and stopped working on the project.
