I hear you voice and I see so many people that are very much like yourself. Don't ever feel that you are alone. Sometimes I feel that people think life is a movie that only the main character knows the script. You have Power to make changes. Your brain will make that change. You must write what you will do in the morning and stay to that script. No changes. You can do this. God Bless

Dave, the way to stop is to do like this:
You are sober one day.
And then another.
And then another.
And then another.
And then the days turn into weeks.
And then the weeks turn into months.
And then you realize that you feel a lot better, and that your life is a lot better, and that those who you thought were your friends were not, and that some who you didn't realize were your friends were your real friends.
And then you realize what you have missed out on all those years when you were drinking.
And then the months turn into years.
But only if you stay sober every day along the way. And in the end, that is up to you and no one else.
You will find lots of help out there. But it is up to you.<object id="__symantecPKIClientMessenger" data-supports-flavor-configuration="true" data-extension-version="1.0.1" style="display: none;"></object>__PRESENTMarkus' Performance Boating Links:

Think of sobriety this way Dave, lots other people that were in worse shape than you are have done it. Make the tough decision that you can too. And then hold yourself to it. Don't do it for anybody else. Do it for yourself.

Just one more comment Dave.
One drink is too many. 1,000 is not enough.
Whatever it is, there are people, who you have never met but know on S&F, that give a damn.I carry a gun because a cop won't fit in my pocket.

Parker (fucstic!!). Remember ya calling me (damn, 2500 miles away?) when ya were having lifes problems. Thing is I done rehabs. After Nam and got a great job, Reynolds Aluminum, but the 70's "white nose candy" had me. Went the EAP work and said I need to quit Did a 30 day inpatient Hospital.
Well lets not brag about that as quit the coke, but 6 weeks later back to alcohol.
But still had that wild way, on my HD Shovelhead, got 2 more DUI the 80's. Did 2 more out patient Rehabs, save my D/L..(and A ****HOUSE OF MONEY LAWYERS!)
Now almost 70? (retired 25 years) Still like my "Rolling Rock" beers, and zip wrong a "puff" the funny crap, lock up the shop, and do the enclosed porch 8 feet into the house. "Hmmm, CHEESEBURGER? PiZZA..
Dave, I don't know your age, but TRUST ME! Theres ZERO any chance "control"
To stay clean, means NOTHING with alcohol..at ALL.
Some can drink a beer or two and "enough", or like said..
"One drink is too many. 1,000 is not enough".
Been there, done that, and sure its tough? BUT.................?Last edited by Robby321; 09-27-2019 at 09:25 PM.
