It was a good little motor , fantastic on fuel and very quiet, I would still have it if it was the short shaft like urs the 20” was to long and I couldn’t bring it up any higher , I don’t think u will have any problems floating it on ur transom my boat is 12’ and had no problems not even coming off plane

fastest I ever got it was 50 mph 16 pitch semi cleaver but there’s was def more just too much motor in the water from 45 to 50 was pretty hairy really wish I would’ve held out for the short shaft but my impatience got the best of me again !!

damn, that is sweet what kind of boat is that? My engine is a 15" but I also made the transom 20 1/2" tall so i should not need a jack plate and I have room to go up still with the holes on the engine. There is a guy in Canada that has the same engine he runs on a rapid craft with a 20" transom and hes on the last hole and still can go higher, hes running 64 mph with a 3 blade ron hill cleaver with the formula race so im hoping for similar results. talking with him has given me a lot of helpful tips like making my transom 1/2'' taller.

Pic is at rock bluff on the Suwannee , when it’s ready u should def make one of the Suwannee runs u will love running that boat on it , I have only ran it on the St. John’s and Suwannee with the 60 so pretty flat but we used to keep in the keys , I remember yrs ago goin from key largo to islandmorada and the way back was a rough ride but it handled its own, just a little sore the next day , if memory serves it was probably somewhere around a 2’ chop

I started working on the cap repairs, and I keep forgetting to ask, when it comes to cleaning up the transom, regarding the HIN number, can I stamp it into a piece of aluminum and glue it on there and glass it on? Or is that illegal? I had to deepen the numbers because the pervious owners added at least 4 layers of different paint and couldn't really see them. They don't look very nice so what's the best way to go about it legally.

About the hin #'s. I would leave the original #s and place a easier to read plate over them. That way anyone that wants to can verify the original #s. Removing the original #s is not good. Make a 2nd plate and hide it in the boat under the deck etc so you can describe where it is to LE in case the boat is lost or stolen and you have to prove that it is your boat. FE transom is crushed where the original hin# is placed.
