Is it safe to re drill,or will i end up on the redneck engineering thread.

I have never swiss cheesed a jack plate before, but i really need to get my prop shaft higher....another inch would really help, just not sure if it's safe to drill so high on the plate with the current holes so close below.Any thoughts on this ?

    drill

I would move the piston rod bracket down if you don't need to lower the engine as low as it goes now.

Ahhhhhhh, now the gears are turning ! With that being said, how high can i go up with the plate and still be safe.Right now maxed out it is in there 8".

How about redrilling the pump mount ? That would hands down be the easiest fix that i never thought of.

Don't you still have two holes on the motor you can go up without re-drilling anything??

I took these pics right before i lifted the motor and used up those holes. The prop shaft is still an inch under the pad, then factor in the 15" setback,i am still sort of burying the prop.

This boat has a funky transom, not much room to play without chopping.

I think I would add to the top of the extension and tie it to the top deck, then move the jack plate up 3 or 4 inches and lower the motor.
Try to get the slide part back down where it belongs.

p.s. the red neck page is an option.

If you move the pump only wont it simply max out lift and run out of room on the sliders? I would't sweat drilling an inch down on that plate, its pushing against not pulling. If it really concerned me I'd weld some extension tab mounts on lower and drill the top only.

The boat used to have a ski pole and they tied it all in with the stringers. They went overboard.Side note, not sure why my pics are now coming out sideways.
