I'm sure Gordons V8 can easily make way more hp than the record boat had... Dave

Yea totally agree.. I'm sure the goal was to kinda copy another type of boat that has some what safely proven to lay-down and stay on the surface at 250+ but when you have 8000hp+ and twin Cr props that push the hull out of the water for the first 1/3 of the lane and completely different weight distribution so not much to compare to.. Copying R/C stuff is like apples to oranges too, the power/wing size to weight is nothing similar.. Look at an r/c helicopter or airplane they fly straight up like a freakin rocket , most real helicopters are near full power at a hover ..

Only time the rear sponsons touch the water on an top fuel is when the engines at idle and the fronts don't hit until the water might as well be frozen..

Notice when the Second Effort boat is at speed the front is planted and the entire after plane of the hull is carried by the prop. The cross section shape and 'taper' of the wing section is designed to minimize aero drag and turbulence. The Starflite boat that went 131 mph was probably one of the best examples of a minimum touch prop rider. To go that fast with 89 cu. in. and with the props they had back then was pretty amazing.

Cute. Fact is I know a LOT about fluid dynamics, drag and how it applies to boats. Just so happens, I've been racing kayaks for the last 7 years so I know a lot about what makes them go fast too. By the way, outrigger canoes are not as fast as racing kayaks that don't have outriggers.
Did you happen to notice that Ken Warby switched back to the needle nose design boat after testing an outrigger like boat for quite a while? If anyone knows how to go fast, he does.1970 15' Allison/135 Chrysler stacker

Well hopefully it was cute enough to talk you down off the ledge a bit .
Have racing kayaks changed over the last 7 years ?
Has your computer or cell phone changed ?
Have outboard motors ..
Then no doubt the thoughts and idea's what it would take tocracks the 200 mph barrier with an outboardwill change just as quick.
The easiest job I have found is to stand at the fence and squawk about how much you know on a subject that has never been tried before .
As someone who has skint his knuckles on this boat I have earned the right to express my opinion to the powers that be . Sometimes right , sometimes wrong , like it or not , but in the end this is the boat that Rick George wanted to use to set the world record .
Yes it's a T/Fuel boat , they leap out of the water . Then ride on the front sponsons and the prop . At rest , the motor is so far forward the sponsons carry the weight of the motor and driver .
Main fuselage :
Not enough lift for ya ?It's carbon -bond a pair of strips on the bottom to pack air .
Front sponsons :
Removable , make each one look like a Mack Truck or half of a Action Marine hull . The runner of an STV as big or as small as you want .
Rear sponsons :
Gotta hold the motor out of the water at rest . After that the running surface can be as aero or hydro as your pocket protector can produce .
I never liked the fact that they are not inline with the front sponsons . But at aprox four feet long they formed a lifting tunnel at the rear of the boat .
Outrigger :
It won't … err … shouldn't blow over . Right now the poles have separate canard wings with short wickerbills . All providing downforce . Those were just to get it going safely . "The windshield wetter" set .That whole area from back tip of the sponson to the front pole can easily have "pants" put on it .
I'd still like to see the front tips tied together with a canard wing and an on the fly adjustable trim flap …. but at this point , I'm just another rail bird sittin on the fence squakin …

Were all just talkin banter as trump calls it..I don't know much about a TF boat other than they are impressive as hell... you wait around all day watchin boats that haul ass but are not super impressive and your girls going... is it over yet can we go home now....and then the big boys line up.... and then it gets earily-quiet and all of the sudden there's an explosion then a huge wall of water that doesnt't fall back to earth until after they have alaready gone thru the lights on the other end... at that point everyone guys and gals go WFT was that.. HOLY SHIZIT and everyone grinning from ear to ear.. The circus is not the greatest show on earth..Dave

Everyone can keyboard engineer this all they want. I know Rick, Dan Ellison, Chaz, Monty and bunch others put a lot of time into getting one to the water. That is more than 99.999% of others can say. So I congratulate them on that feat.
We had a good reason for going with the outrigger ourselves, but also had a hydro sitting here to. I know how I would tackle it again if I ever decide to. I would have my money ahead of time and be calling Chaz and those guys up.

My opinion which means nothing, I liked the rigger setup as it would be easy to add lift as you needed it, on a hydro it seems like it would be harder to take lift out once the boat was built?

Guido went 164? with a F1 boat. Somebody with a shrunk down hydro and a pissed off 2.5 can break this record. The rest is politics. The motor Monty and Chaz put together is more than capable, the safety spine of the boat is there, and by far impressive but the rest ain't gonna do it. I don't mean to be a dick but the impression of the twisted hull was a slob by the vids posted. Dave Bush is/was/maybe more on the right track.
ANYWAY I'm going to crawl in to my abspestoes suit and await the flames. And **** the UIM
