    Is this an accepted way of straightening a prop shaft? Seems like the shaft should be removed to avoid damaging (brinelling) the bearings...

    Either way, I think I’ll pass!

    To straighten a shaft that has been removed is it done cold (with a press) or with heat?

    Remove it press no heat,of the couple hundred I have had done don't know of one that has failed.Fishing and rec motors.
    I may be slow but im ahead of you. *hit's only ankle deep but you went in head first.

    Speaking of shafts, it's amazing just how malleable the Merc 1" shaft is.
    Back in my Nitrous days I twisted splines on several shafts and never broke one. I did break a couple'a DS's at the top spline though. I've had a Fatshaft for 2 years and already lost a hub and prop due to the threaded nipple breaking off.....and NO Nitrous, just regular running!

    Yeah willy,a Volvo penta sx stearn drive propshaft is a hefty shaft but they bend like butter and have had many straightened you get a file even close to one and metal is coming off haha
