While your point is taken, what you imply is not always true. While his advice does not always seem to fit the 'hot rod' boating world he does seem to know what he's talking about, whether he got the knowledge from first hand experience or not. While many may find his style some what offensive, I don't think it takes away from the knowledge and experience he offers. And yes there are others here that really know their stuff and their comments are often more practical and less technical. As far as him stealing and or cropping photos, I see the implication of accusation but no evidence. In the words of the late Rodney King " Can't we all just get along?".

I can see he does irritate people with "gotcha" questions like the one he posted with the water getting into the lay-up. He asked what caused it, we all know a large number of things could have happened to cause it, but he wanted a very specific answer which to me is juvenile. He may have knowledge that would help newbies and maybe even some with experience, but to go and piss off people with that sort of posting only makes enemies for him.......
He's better off posting a picture of a failure and then going over all the possible causes and remedies; having a real discussion rather than trying to make everyone feel like they wasted their time replying."One of the penalties for refusing to participate in politics is that you end up being governed by your inferiors". Plato .

Guy prob has no one to talk to and this is his only outlet unfortunately, if I had a question I'd rather pm some of the others that are in there just to get a real answer

What he said. The guy seems to really know that business, and some of what he knows can translate to information we can use rebuilding boats. But you have to ignore his demeanor and just get the substance. But that is way better than the people with the same lack of people skills and combine that with a lack of knowledge!

Per my hero Instigator:

I actually used to enjoy the different topics and solutions in the Fiberglass and Composites section and got sick of his ranting in every single thread.
I'm actually finishing up a 3 year rebuild of my 23 Daytona, and decided to not do a build thread on this site that I've been on for 11 years mostly due to not wanting to deal with him.
If there's one thing I've learned about fiberglass, it's that there's a hundred different opinions on how to repair or build things with glass, and you need to follow one method, as many are polar opposites of each other but does not mean either is wrong.
I'm sure he means well, but definitely comes across as "my way or the highway"A problem is only a problem when viewed as a problem...

WOW that is sad to hear. I have spent many hours talking with him on the Phone as I was building my Vector.
He helped me out a lot deciding what to do on making my bottom changes.
He was a totally different person talking to him one on one. He did have a short fuse...........Just don't lite it and all was good.

John is a MOON BATT with talent. Has absolutely NO Business or People skills. Hes stuck it to several of my friends that will never do business with him ever again and Ill never recommend him because of that. But to know him in person is WAY different than talking on the phone. Its really a shame because he is talented.
