A couple of notes from Dan today: They ran a set of 4 blade 35 Dewalds and the boat went to 117 but as Dan told me that (he was afraid of running out of lake and had some traffic-the boat was "pulling like a train"). The boat it not as well mannered for all around use with the 4 blades as it is the 5. We a have a new lead m.p.h. detective (whom we all know) that will be working with Dan on some more changes soon. Water pressure is at above 25 p.s.i. so there an easy clue for the next piece of evidence to be examined.

We also have another DW 28 coming to South Florida for someone here on the board that everyone is also very familiar with-I will let him announce his decision on his own.

Anyone that doesn't think that this DW28 deal is gift has not been following this thread: http://www.screamandfly.com/showthread.php?322122-28-Skater-New-Motors-and-Rigging-2016

"3. The new 28s being produced are going to exceed $300k and will not have better rigging than mine."
    "4. It's about a 2 year wait to get a new one."
"7. I know of someone with a very nice 28 (not as nice as this one but very nice) who turned down $150k in the past month."
"8. I think the days of finding a well done 28 Skater under $100k are gone with the resurgence in popularity of outboard cats."
"Unless I find its replacement then it's $140"
    "I just turned down $119"
"318 got a $70,000 retail price increase because of supply and demand"

This economy is in full forward with statements like these being discussed. Life is good-

I talked to Dan yesterday. He raised the motors a 1/4 inch from where they were and still has just under 20 lbs. of water pressure. He had his brother out for his first available ride (even though he is still recovering from pneumonia) and with a 100 gallons of fuel on board the boat ran to 115 with no effort. He told me that there is a good bit more left in it but he was dealing with traffic and a recovering passenger so pushing it was not in the cards. He also took his good friend who owns a 308 skater with XS motors for a ride and his comment was "this is the definition of a HOT ROD". I am still waiting for he and Dale to get in the boat together with the go-pro and for Dale to get a chance to drive it along with adding his extensive set up knowledge to the puzzle.

I rode in this rocket on Saturday and the acceleration is fantastic and love how it turns. We only went for a quick 10 minute ride to make sure he still had great water pressure and he does. We hit 110 but ran out of straightaway to go any faster. It was pulling really hard at 110 when he had to get out of the throttles. I'm 6'2" and wished the windshield was a lil taller. It is stunningly beautiful in person. Congrats to Dan on a badass new ride.

I am glad that someone who knows boats other then Dan and myself had a chance to experience this thing. The new windshields are going to be at the original flange mount angle coming off of the deck so they not lay down like Dan's and will offer better wind protection as well-(for us little guys it doesn't matter...) The boat is like a big STV is what I tell people. Maybe you can elaborate on the transition "hop" and how easy it is to drive around.

By NO means am I an expert. I own a 30 Skater with twin 300XS now and previously owned a 25 Eliminator I/O and both are/were 100+ mph boats. I have been around boats all my life but have not owned many performance boats but ridden in several. I was very impressed with how Dan's new boat rides and turns at slow and high speeds. It is not a boat you are going to cruise around at 65mph because of the hop of the true cat hull. This boat rips thru the hop especially when in a very small turn left or right, just like every true cat I've been in. The analogy of being like a big STV seems to be spot on to me. We didn't get any wakes or waves while we were on our short rip so I can't tell you how it handles those. Sorry I don't have more information to provide regarding this badass new ride.

Okay so here are a couple of the changes that we needed to address on the production of the DW28s going forward. The first two pictures show the additional screen mount and shifter console. There will be a second screen mount on top of the dash similar to Dan's but it will be narrowed up so that visibility is gained on both sides of the windshield. The second two are computer drawings of the new windshield. The original one was swept back at the top and hindered visibility due to the radius. To correct that issue on Dan's boat the windshield was cut down but this is not a viable option for buyers wanting more protection so we had to start over with a new plug and mold from Doug Wright.

This is a testament to Willy Sturgis and his ability to go from discussion, to concept, to production with these updates. The last picture is our original layout- Willy is a top shelf guy to have involved in this project.

I had to steal these pictures from one of Dales post-Dan hanging with the fast crowd in his DW28 on the Delta in CA. The beautiful grey skater doesn't get too far from home -Dan owned it, then Dale (in the speed racer 28) had it and now its current owner all still running together-very cool.
