Good grief, and I thought maintenance on a 3.0 Mercruiser was painful, that one that FMP posted is nuts to get to.

Its interesting, thats for sure. Belt driven dizzy operating a mechanical fuel pump. Two piece heads. Carbs must be down under in that big tin box, that cannot be fun to tune up. Is the long "yellow" plastic thing carb linkage for 4 carbs? Looks like fuel injection, but no way possible. Looks like that really long arm with the scissor spring rotates the dizzy for timing as the carbs open.
If I don't ask any questions, I'll never learn anything.

This was the earliest OMC sterndrive...they only used the outboard powerhead for a short time, don't remember the years...prolly mid to late 60's...PITA to work on!

Just looked it up...the V-4s were built between 62-68 then they went to the Ford 4 cyl....I didn't work on a lot of them but they are out there.

We saw one on the water couple years ago, they were taken by our CHRYSLER boat and us by the EVINRUDE boat and then the day went on. LOL
