Skin cancers. Mixing Efudex with DMSO
Im putting this here in general as all boaters are exposed to more sun damage than the typical person. This is as important as wearing your life jacket IMO.
Skin cancers. Mixing Efudex with DMSO
I am having an "outbreak" of AK's (small crusty benign skin cancers). I have quite a few basil cell, squamous cell, and AK's removed over the years each leaving a small scar.
I have used Efudex in the past but the treatment is long and rather painful. My skin seems rather sensitive t it with more burning to healthy skin than usual.
I have decided to try an alternate application of Efudex mixed with DMSO. This speeds up the treatment to just four days with less scaring and damage to healthy skin.
Im waiting to pick up some DMSO and post results when I start.
Heres an article on the process:

Only use DMSO from Jacob Lab. Dr. Stanley Jacob lived 2 houses away from us when he discovered the medical uses for DMSO. His son and I were best buddies then and still friends now.

I was just at my Dermatologist Monday and they did the freezing treatment on five of so areas on my forehead and ear ,
I wear long sleeves all the time even boating , I grew up at the beach always wanting that dark tan, Baby oil and iodine was our mix..
It gave me that prune face
I now think WHITE is beautiful ...

Just applied the 3rd treatment (day three). Skin is getting very tight but no signs of pre-cancers being attacked yet.

The very best of luck with your treatment Chris, and I hope for quick and easy success. I'm sure others will find this post helpful also.
Being boaters, we are all exposed to the sun quite a but so this could be considered boating-related in a very important way. I wish the very best for your treatment.

I was in the sun my whole life and did not use sunscreen until I was 17-18, wish I new then what I know now, worst one to date, had a squamous on my nose and my back. I make sure my son wears hats and long sleeve shirts as he is more fair complexion then me.

DMSO, didn't they use that on horses on the 1980's?????
I have had many cancer spots removed, including 6 surgeries on my face and a few more on other parts of my body. I had it basil cell pretty bad. They would cut small football shapes out my face and stitch it up. I kind of got a free face lift out the deal.
the crappy part is it is starting to show up in places that don't get sun. I a pretty good spot cut out of my hip a few months back.
This is real, my cousin died from skin cancer. I don't use as much sun block as I should, but I am getting better at it.

Chris ..THIS IS A GREAT THREAD!!!! Being a prostate cancer surviver I KNOW how important this is. No one knows what the cause of prostate cancer is or how to prevent it BUT we sure do know what causes skin cancer and how to prevent it. If we only knew that we would live this long! If everyone treats their skin like they are a high risk case they will do a LOT better down the road. So the update after 4 days of treatment. I had some small lesions, more like bumps, that kind of dried up and fell off. No real deep burned out area although the area I treated may not have had any pre/cancers. I started with this area because it fairly tough skin.
I am going to move on to might shoulder where I know I have some pre/cancers and start the same treatment while I see if anything else happens on my arm.13' Biel tunnel AKA "Flight Risk"
