    how about 300x or xs Merc then you get some decent gearboxes?

    Suzuki sponsored me through my racing careers, if I buy new it will be Suzukis. By the time that will be needed I hope they have 400's so I can stick with triples.

    Sorry this project didn't go the way you hoped.
    Been on both sides of that and can be very frustrating.

    I restored a 2nd twin O/B Sonic confident of how good it would run, based on how well the first one ( that I also restored and rigged) ran.
    The 2nd one never got close and I tried EVERYTHING! At least twice.
    As in, motor set back, height, rotation, alignment etc, etc.
    Repeat.

    That was doing it myself too.
    Having to write the check too, would have sucked.

    Good luck w/your next chapter.
    I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.


    I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

    Well, it was our choice. I tried to sell but was offered next to nothing. I'm actually very optimistic about its second resto after learning a lot on the first. I'm also way better off financially, hence it makes sense to outsource most of the work.

    Anyone work on the OMC commercial engines with the teflon coated parts?
    Like new years later in heavy salt usage, it really did work.
