Well if robots take all the jobs we will make the robots work for us and pay us to keep them alive, being we are the ones who built them. We will in essence hold them hostage so if they want to keep on existing they will have to pay us.

You see I can write nonsense too.

They've been saying the same thing since Watt invented the steam engine. Most of the children of buggy whip makers, manual ditch diggers, cobblers and blacksmiths have gone on to other trades & professions.

Tech is just now getting to the tipping point , example , Solar panels just this year have hit the efficiency and cost goals that have long been needed to make them worth it. and the battery's that are needed to save that energy for the night time will just be coming out in the next few years, and you know the more they make the cheaper they will get .

There's a big difference in usefulness between areas with solar. Take PPA rates into that equation and total daily winter load and unless you have an agreement that buys at a substantially higher price than what the wholesale market pays it's not worth it. Storage on a household level and the capacity needed between different climate zones to make it worth while are like night and day. A 20kw solar roof top would need so much storage to make it work up here in certain areas that even if the system could produce enough with daily average of about 4 hrs , which it really can't the amount of storage to carry you through the night makes it cost prohibitive even with padded contract. Good for the sunny south where average temp are 65/70. Solar singles, good that a decades old idea has found marketer.

I'm waiting for the slate style panels to get some time out there( don't like to be the test market) to use on the homes I build as I haven't been able to sell any customers on solar panels on water front homes (all I build now) as they aren't the look they are after. These have been a long time comming but I think the wait will be worth it as Tesla knows how to do R&D and build high end product. JMO Gary

Gary, up your way does the local power authority offer purchase agreements, contracts for low cap residential systems? Unless they do or your customers are doing it as a fashion statement the rewards are very limited on an annual number. So take a $100k system that doesn't make the numbers and and a $100k car for that system and that's a quite the investment to feel good. The numbers are better in the sunbelt.

Don't worry. U.S. taxpayers will pay whatever it costs to make it "profitable" for solar panels and electric cars here.
