    2.5 TM vs. CLE internals,

are these basically the same hardened shafts and gear sets ? or does the TM use the stainless shafts ?

If they are original untouched yes both have HP internals.
I would not have a problem running a stainless DS in any case.
Especially if you are not offshore racing or are running in a salt water application.

Around 93 the CLE had some gear, Propshaft and bearing retainer changes. Went from 1 3/16" Propshaft to 1 1/4". Added a spacer to the Rev gear and went to rear drain in bearing carrier. But internals can be swapped as long as you used Propshaft, gears and retainer that match in size.

Ok tony, i have a nice titus 4 hole coned case, that had a matching set of cle gears ,rear drain carrier, which was also pinned and a stainless shaft, ran well, easy in and out of gear, then 1 day the pinion gear shattered and took the fwd and reverse gear with it, ,carrier ,case ,prop and drive shafts and clutch are all still good, i'm just looking for innards and have found a few TM's i can buy as cheap as a set of replacement gears, it's all freshwater lake and river running.

Rear drain CLE will have the same gears as a TM.
