Does anyone know of Switzer Wing videos?
Guy at Fiberglassics asked..
"Sometime back I watched a youtube vid of I believe this Switzer Wing with the two 100 H.P. setting a speed record, but can not find it now. Seems like it was an old news reel, all the players were on the film prepping the boat and running for the record. Can't remember if they were on Lake X or Havasu? I would like to find it again"
Anyone know of it?

Sorry it was Nick Springgate videos. I know he sent me some years ago. I found a utube link to some wings racing. I found on my computer a lot of single engine tunnels from the late 60's early 70's. Had not seen them in years. pretty damn cool had to watch. Here is the link for the wings at Havasu. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylE-w_38wOI

Just wondering - anyone know how Nordscog managed to get a Switzer - I though ECK had control of all the Switzers that were built. And what was Nordscog's connection to OMC - he ran alot of their junk - I mean motors.

...Bob just knew people, that knew people...thats all. He also was a great talker/salesman. He also had started PowerBoat Magazine in '68, which was the bible that everyone couldn't wait for, at the mailbox, every month. I remember driving a ways away, to a large stocking magazine store every month, just to get to see the latest PowerBoat there, because they seemed to always get them a week or so earlier than at my home. How's the 1968 shortshaft 80 Merc & Checkmate coming along?

Close - its a short Merc 500. Just got my paint in the mail today - going to use a two part urethane on the deck - it will end up a bit lighter than the gunnels and bottom but this ain't no show boat, it's meant to be used.
Maybe some people will like my photo of the forerunners of K-planes that JD built.

...And a nice clean 50 it is! The whole "package" looks unusually clean, for its age. They made that model, called a V-141 (14') & a stretched version, in a 16 footer. Cobra, (out of Canada I think), made boats out of the same molds. Had a green metalflake 14 myself, with a blue-stripe J-motor shortshaft. Went about 75. Thought it would be tricky to run fast with, having the rounded V-bottom, but it ran well at those speeds, considering.

...I'm sure you've seen the CheckMate tabs of that era. They were also mounted horizontally on all the boats. The school of thought back then was to help in a blow-over, more than planing. Nice homemade jobs you got there. I like them.
