I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one thinking like this. Now I know that my build can and will be a successful one. I'm building a 17.9' King Fisher, and intend to put my 250hp Verado that was boosted to a 330hp by Simon Motor Sport on it when it's done. Everyone says it's gonna be too heavy, but I beg to differ. And now seeing yours, give me more confidence. Any chance I can get a contact for RPM from you to get a few tips from them, considering I live all the way in the Turks & Caicos, so them working on my boat is next to impossible?

danature - I can get it to you if you can promise not to call them until our boat is done lol. Don't want them distracted right now, as I'm sure you can understand. Sounds like a cool project. I want to keep up with it for sure!!

Everyone remember the youtube video a couple yrs back of the turbocharged (I think) Hondas lower unit running 100 MPH?
I'd rather be competitive w/junk I built in my garage than win w/stuff I bought.
I refuse to allow common sense to interfere w/my boat buying decisions.

You've got yourself a deal. That works for me. And I'd like to know how she sits in the water and performs, once you get your keys in hand.

Im pretty sure it ran 100 without the turbo. He was planning on putting a turbo on it, ran 100+ with a 35 herring on an argo/twister type hull. They will run north of 100 with 200hp so its not hard to believe.
Slip numbers are spot on for the herrings i know of. G has one runs 120 at 6k

To all the people that thought a 400 would sink a bass boat or small go fast boat here's a pic of one with 13" of setback floating in the water about the way any other Stroker does...

Chips and dip, looks cool!!! How about coming off plane or stern in to a good chop while fighting a bucket mouth? And how does she feel??

FMP - this was a veeerrryyy early shake down water test. Really just looking to see how she floats, make sure there was no plumbing leaks and everything works. Well there was a decent amount of small problems, which was expected on a build of this magnitude. I have to stress I wasn't driving and wasn't there, this is being done by Kurt from Kurts Performance Boats and Jason at RPM Marine up in Conway, Arkansas. Once delivered here soon I'll have more relational and situational info for you.
The hotfoot somehow lost its sync with the flyby wire system so wasn't working and the hand throttle lost it port side configuration. Kurt was literally putting the shifter in "reverse" then throttling it in reverse while trying to drive a brand new rig with all brand new concepts including the power steering which is sensitive. I'm glad I wasn't there actually hahahah.
Kurt said she wants to run though. No prop work, they just threw on my unvented bone stock 29 ProMax also no boat balance/ballast work...just a shake down to check things. He got her on plane and stayed in throttle giving her some trim and it woke up hard with just the trim. Kurt said it wasn't anywhere near WOT or full rpm and she was already well into the 90s with just trim. He didn't touch the jack plate, had 20psi of WP while checking stuff and getting a feeling for things. This was with the trolling motor, the talon/360, 15 gallons of gas and come to find out 30+ gallons of water too lol. Apparently something in the live well or bilge system was leaking. If there was any doubt on its being a dog or a runner it's now been put to bed. She's gonna run well, will have to wait a little while to find out how well. I personally don't think she's gonna care if there is a lot of weight or wind resistance either. Think she'll run similar speeds whether loaded or unloaded, almost like a diesel.Last edited by npark; 01-01-2016 at 08:46 AM.

Now that is great news. Especially for me with my expectations on my build. Congrats on that, and hope to see a video soon.

You got it danature!! Good luck with your build. I want too see all the pics and hear about its progress!! Jason's number at RPM is 501-504-5246, like I said just please give him time to finish mine and maybe a week or two to relax lol. The've been burning the midnight oil for sure.
BTW that's about 13" of mechanical setback via a HD Seastar/Detwiller JP, Hydrodynamics setback plate and Talon bracket/spacer combo. There's another 4.5-5" built into the midsection of the Vrods so she won't be searching for clean water.
