The Scream And Fly Motorcycle Thread - 2015 Edition!
Our previous motorcycle thread spans many years and literally tens of thousands upon tens of thousands of views.
So let's start a current motorcycle thread - show everyone what you have or what you want to have.
I don't use my bikes often, especially recently, however I will never be without a bike. No way. Right now, I have the following:
2008 Ninja ZX-6R Special Edition. I bought this new as a leftover model and I love this bike. The "special edition graphics" are a bit excessive for my tastes but I like them enough to not change it. I like the under-tail exhaust on this model a lot. 2008 was the last year they had this configuration, thereafter going to the more conventional system of hanging the muffler on the side.

My second bike is a 2009 Kawasaki KLX250SF. This, I also bought as a new leftover model. The 'SF' model is basically a KLX250S dual-purpose bike with a supermotard-type configuration. The suspension is different than the standard KLX250S, and the transmission gear ratios are also different. There are other minor differences as well, however they are basically the same bike. It's interesting that this is a carbureted bike, and yet it's 50-state emissions legal. To accomplish this, Kawasaki has this carb set up to run very lean, with an air injection unit also added to help burn off unburnt gases in the exhaust system. Because of the air injection, plus the already lean jetting, it's quite normal for the exhaust header pipe to glow red (!!) even when the engine is idling. When I first saw that I became alarmed and it took a lot of convincing from the Kawasaki tech people that it's perfectly normal. I suppose it is, since it seems to run just fine, but still, this should have fuel injection in this day and age, especially when the less expensive Honda CRF250L is fuel injected.
Because of the engine's emissions-legal carb settings, the bike is temperamental to start up when cold, and in most cases you need to use the choke when it's fully warmed up! Again, that's completely normal, but it's also a pain. Once running though, it's great. It's fast enough to go on the Interstate with no problem, and will easily cruise at 75 mph. The fastest I've ever been able to get it was 94 mph, which isn't so bad for a 250cc four-stroke single.
Kawi only made the 'SF' model for two years; 2009 and 2010. The 2010 model was black, which looked cool but I really like the blue much more - especially those rad wheels.

Both of those photos were taken right when the bikes were delivered. I plan on keeping these bikes for a long time because to me, this is the perfect pair of bikes to own for my needs.
Post up what you have, any any related stories!

My 86 rz350, just sold it recently, had toomeys, ported, squish band corrected, keihin pwk 34's, vforce 4 reed cages, and a Zeel programmable cdi/power valve controller, forged pistons, revalved forks, progressive springs and steering damper. Nothing like the rush of a 2 stroke, and the bike was fairly lite.

Too much to list right now so more later on the ones I still have, and always will. My CC road trips are over, so sold my Bagger to my nephew. 1984 first year Evo, 5 speed wet clutch, enclosed chain. Little if ANY problems decades! But I did a LOT of miles that "old girl"
Plus a CBR1000F I sold simple as I was gonna end in jail on that beast! Re-geared/Kerker, lotta mods.

Cracking me up here this.."A fast fun bike but it's a hard tail would probably be perfect in Florida but NY roads aren't good for your back"
I stopped Wall Drug gas going into Sturgis 1991? from Illinois. Rag tag bunch getting gas in line. Some dude had a old HD Ironhead Sporty, hard tail and just a single seat WITH OUT any springs, frame mounted"?
Then looked the plate? NEW YORK! Asked "don't that kill yer back? Said, "nope, I'm used to it" Damn crazy bikers..ya gotta luv'em!

And still have and die with it my "brainstorm" in 1990. Friend gave me a Avon Saviour frame meant for a inline 4. Another had a 6 foot girder he didn't want. Cut that down to 3 feet, widened, spooled a 21 rim an a rear HD star hub.(for twig disc brakes), and then figure out how shove a Sporty motor in, jackshaft to a fat rear (before the loud mouths on the tube started "bolting" together crap for money), and well, took year messing it, making brackets and really just about everything to make a runner. Even manage a west coast move the middle it so took a long time, but never lost interest. Collects dust in the shop, but I KNOW there aint another one like it on earth!
