Ride will be totally different from the I/O though...a lot of weight hanging out there with those 400s.

That 28 looks really nice. I actually think it would be a great package with just a single 400.

I agree.........it's a great looking rig and I'm sure it will be very fast in smooth water, but the cg is horrible for the rough stuff. I personally wouldn't hang 1,500#s off the back of anything smaller than a 30' - cat or V. I agree with one of the other posts - awesome ski-race rig!

an ilmor 725 an drive weighs around 1300 lbs. A mercury 700 and nxt drive is a few hundred lbs more. Why so worried about the weight of these things? I agree the c.g. is moved further aft with outboards but not like its twice the weight. I doubt it will be an issue at all they know how to build and rig boats pretty well. Just my thoughts
That said, the boat looks great. Cant wait to hear some final numbers.

There is a huge difference between the weight being IN the boat (forward of the transom) vs hanging OFF the back of the boat (rearward of the transom). The cg with a single inboard setup would probably be around 25% of the boat's length (7' or so) forward of the transom - the cg of the outboard version with those huge 400s hanging off the back will probably be down around 15% of the boat's length (4' or so) forward of the transom. No comparing the two setups in the rough.

Quite possibly the sexiest looking 28 ever built. Add to that Tuff's famous design, construction and rough water ability and you have one hell of a package there!

Rayzor has a good point. Im sure after some testing if there is any issues with keeping the IB design to make the CG with these behemoths hanging off the back more forward there is alot of bow area to work with. You could always extend the cockpit forward 3ft or so and have one heck of sweet sized cockpit and that should also move the CG more forward if need be. Even doing that she would look sweet as can be with still plenty of deck. Some sexy lines right there!!
I just checked my loto numbers they haven't come in {YET} haha
The pic in the water is my new screen saver!!

Mark, sure did.....that boat looks stunning and I'm sure it will run very well. Also love the Porter bracket he is using!
I'm personally talking about running in the rough and better cg setup.
No matter how you look at it, if you plan on running it hard those 2 motors back there will be abusive to the boat/transom.....JMPO which mean nothing!
The other thing for ME is that those 2 motors hanging back there kind of look funny on the even though is a 28' boat.
