Twin Inline Sixes on a Vintage Hull - Talk Me Out of It!!!
I woke up this morning craving eggs, coffee and an old classic rig of some sort, something very light and fast with twin merc inlines, maybe Super BPs or XSs. What is wrong with me? Does this happen to anyone else? Why can't I see what I am getting myself into? I'll be broke until spring.
I am wondering if anyone else here has, or has an interest in, this kind of boat. I really, really want to do this. What are some good candidates for hulls? I remember seeing one when I was about twelve or so, it would have been around '72. It was a V bottom, very shallow hull with 125s or 135s, I can't recall which.
Bottom line, I'm gonna do it. Raceman has already mentioned a possible solution for counter-rotating engines....I'm getting that adrenaline rush....where's my wallet......

What a great idea! As a kid I watched the JJ hulls--inlines on maybe 18' open v-hulls, then the started showing up on three point hydros. Or even an old classic tunnel--Greg posted a photo of a beautiful one a month or so ago.
Go for it!Per Rock:
"Once I bought my first Hydrostream boating changed forever for me."
Per my hero Instigator:
"I try not to let common sense interfere w/my boat buying decisions."

Thanks, Li'l Toy. I am setting the gears in motion.
I think I will try to find a pair of 1500 XS motors, and I may know where to get one of them already. I had a J block motor on a big, fat 16' Larson runabout years ago. I was pleased with how well the inline did on that heavy rig...plenty of power for skiing and a top speed close to 50mph!
Were there any cool-looking and light catamarans around back in the days of the inlines? That would be very nice, but I'll consider anything that looks good and can perform well. Wondering if anyone out there still builds a boat which might suit my purpose.

But a super classic .."restore!"....and I would LOVE to hear that, the 6 into 3 "cans", at WOT! A SUPER..."WTF is this coming?"

Wonder what kind of speeds those guys were getting out of those little cats? How would they do with 1500s?
