2009 Hydrostream Power Tour official megathread

Ok, here it is. We started this off last season and had a blast. This will be the official kick off to the 2009 season.

    The concept:

Get a group of fellow Hydrostream owners together and go boating on various bodies of water in and around Wisconsin. We are a unique breed of individuals that really love and appreciate the classic lines and feel of driving a Hydrostream.

    The Rules:

Other than the Three Lakes Shootout, Power Tour stops will not be posted in advance on this thread. Persons wishing to participate must contact Laker or myself in advance. We will notify our list of participants of future planned stops in advance (suggestions welcomed). The reason for this is that we want to keep this a Hydrostream Only tour. We dont need any troll's showing up in other boats trying to prove something. The only exception to this rule is Sgt. Laker, who at the present time is serving our country. Sarge and the A-boat are always welcome as our honorary guest.

    Our Goals:

    - To meet new friends with common interests
    - To fully establish the "Hydrostream Owners Group" as a network of individuals that share ideas about their classic Stream's and can get together and go boating
    - To get Greg to come to one of our events for a classic Hydrostream Photo Shoot. Greg has a permenant invite
    - Get Balzy out of retirement
    - To share photos for the enjoyment of fellow distant enthusiasts unable to participate

    About us:

Laker: A true, dyed in the wool, outboard junkie. A true man's man. This guy has outboards and outboard parts in every room of his house. The Garage is dedicated to working on outboards and other 2 and 4 stroke motors. The Family room is an organized storage room for outboard parts. The kitchen table usually is displaying a new outboard cowling or the spot to open new "special packages" form UPS.

The Boat: a Moonshadow flake 1980 Ventura which Chris completely customized. It features a new core, floor, custom race layout and an enclosed splashwell as well as some "top secret" pad and chine mods.

The Motor: Simply put, the baddest V4 I have ever seen. Influenced by 6Killer, Laker has custom built, massaged and assembed a V4 that is truely a force to be reckoned with. Without a doubt, the baddest V4 this side of the "Mason-Dixon Line." Any northern boy that wants to claim this title must take it away from Laker. Oh, and dont forget the Laker one-of-a-kind custom cowling.

    Schrammer

    The Man:

Schrammer: A true speed-aholic. Whatever the vehicle or craft may be, the quest and need for speed will never stop. Off the Water, Schrammer enjoys rifling thru the gears in his late model Z-51 Corvette as well as hunting down good looking females and consuming large amounts of Miller Lite (not wile driving of course )

The Boat: A Orange Metalflake '76 Vector that has been clear coated and completely redone with new core, floor, guages, shifter and new interior.

The Motor: Built and Assembled by Chadwick himself. One Bad Azz V6 Crossflow. With a smile this big, you know it's gotta be something good:

    Bill aka: redvegas91, "big willy"

The Man: My Brother and Schrammer and my boat mentor. He took me for scary rides in the Vandal that our Father bought new in 1978. Schrammer sat on the end of his pier since he was in diapers watching and biting his nails. Bill is the Eldest and longest standing Hydrostream owner in the group. He has been flying Streams high since 1978.

The Boat: A Pristine example of an all original 1991 Vegas XT. This boat is garage kept and Flawless. The interior is as new.

The Motor: The lone "black motor" of the group. A carbed 2.5 200 just dying to be massaged or replaced with and ETEC All kidding aside, a great running motor.

    JJMalkow

The Man: Jeff is the Newest official member of the group. His passion about outboards has stemmed from early childhood when his Father worked for a local OMC dealer, Growing up, JJ heard the sounds of small putt putt outboard being tested and tuned in the custom ventilated test barrel in his Dad's Garage. The Long standing dream of owning a Classic Hydrostream has recently come true.

The Boat: A Very Nice all original '81 Ventura. JJ recently got this rig without power after what seemed to be an endless quest for a Classic 'Stream

The Motor: Crossflow V4 88 Special. This motor will soon receive special treatment including 135 heads and Big Bore carbs for the 2009 quest for 60 MPH. V6 next year

    And Lastly, Yours Truely

FlowMaxx - At 4 years old, My Father, after much influence from my older brothers, purchased a brand new Hydrostream Vandal from a Local Wisconsin Dealer. Most of my childhood was spent watching and dreaming about the lake and boating. Besides Hydrostreams, I collect antique outboards, I enjoy waterskiing and In the downtime Play a little Guitar and Bass (yet another thing I and the rest of the crew, besides Schrammer, have in common)

The Boats: The one that started it all. Years ago, after high school, and years of the three of us pounding the old 85, it needed some freshening. Since Bill had recently acquired his then dream boat, I purchased the boat from my Dad and Freshend up the old 85 Crossflow which after thousands of hours, is still running strong:

The Viking: Yes, this one is a Viking, not a V-king. Daredevil color scheme, this boat was previously owned by Big Willy for about ten years before I got it. It had a tired old 175 on it at the time which has since been freshened up and is now a Strong runner

Frank, We would love to have you join us for a stop or two. Baja16 and Streamin 101 from Northern NY are planning on coming to the Three lakes Shootout at the end of June. That will be the Primere boating event in Wisconsin this year. Maybe you could round up Greg to be a passenger and do some photo shooting Oh wait, He has a Hydrostream doesn't he???
