Thread: Best 21' - 25' Cat????????????

Guys:
I don't want to get too many people worked up. I know about Calebs boat and if I truely was in the market to spend that kind of money I would be on Calebs doorstep first thing. I have loved Warlocks since I was a little kid, well before I even knew Hydrostreams existed. I love my Vegas, and at this point would like to master it before moving on. I don't even think I will ever sell it. The whole cat idea is kind of coming from my wife, I think we would just get another boat (ie. a cat) and hold on to the vegas. I more than anything like to know as much information about boats as I can, and that is how this thread started. The reality of it is yes I am always looking, but also need to justify to myself spending that kind of discresionary cash on another performance boat. I would also like a cruuiser to spends extended periods of time cruising the Inside Passage to Alaska. I hope I didn't ruffel too many feathers with this post. Nick: Calebs boat would be my first choice.
Thanks,

Fair enough
And I must say (go ahead with the ribbing guys
), having a cruiser is "MUST", living in this part of the world especially if you have a family. Being able to spend the night out there is great:

Blkmtrfan:
Where is that picture? I have cruised the entire inside passage many times with my family growing up, and my parents untile they sold thier boat a month ago would spend 4 months of the summer cruising north. I love the areas north of Desolation sound and into SE Alaska. I also spent a summer in SE Alaska commercial fishing. In my opinion (to the shagrin of many on this site) a big heavy full displacment single screw cruiser is the way to go, it would be nice to be able to carry a stream on top though.

The top one is on Julia Island (a friends family owns it
) looking north east towards Montigue Harbor in the Gulf Islands, the lower one is in fossel bay on Sucia Island looking south east towards Lummi Island in the San Juans.
I wish I could afford to take 4-months off, so far the longest tip we have been able to manage is two weeks
If you could take 4-months, then the single screw trawler would be a great choice, but I just don't have the time. We cruise at about 24-25 knots and can make pretty good time and go out just about every weekend for mini vacations.
I have been thinking about the ultimate NW boat, basically an east coast offshore center console hull but with a sea-sport style cabin (make it attractive though) with twin 300 mercs. Top speed close to 70 and a cruise speed of 50+, get just about anywhere in a hours in comfort
I think it would sell, now if I could just come up with the money to develop one

I dream of my wife saying, "Sell this slow piece of poop and get a 120+ mph cat you pussy, one with a cuddy and big padded playpen so I can show you how turned on I get from going fast. put that rope and tanning oil to some use"
or something like that

Dregsz, She has three sisters, I think the thing she likes the most about the cats is all the sunbathing area they have.

Not a single screw trawler, but I'm gonna get one of thes mid 80s weekend cruisers to take up to the islands and stay out on for a few nights.
Might need to install a brass pole in the cabin

blkmtrfan,
Amazingly enough my wife (Julia) is name after that Island, her parents also know or knew the owners and spent some time on the island. How long have your friends owned the island?

NW Guys, what are you getting your cats insures for, and by who. I insured my Vegas for about $300 with full coverage with Progressive. I have taken coast gaurd auxilary classes, but they said they don't give any discounts for that any more.
