Finally got in this morning. Had about 8 inches of snow last night. But the mighty Merc started on the first pull. Biggets problem is undoing the ropes in the morning (frozen knots) good screw driver seems to work to pry it open.
Yes, I find the motor running a bit rough when its minus 13 or so. But don't know if its the plugs are not. I got the motor last year and the plugs are original 1987. Got a new pair but haven't put them in yet, too dark at night and I'm a little ruched in the morning. Any one know what the gap on the plugs shoul be for the 87 9.9 ?
I'll give my verdict on roughness once I chnage the plugs. Then again the gas and oil mixture is at - 13c, may affect th ecarb.
Still alive and breathing.

Nice and sunny her today, heard my fisrt snowmachine running int the distance.

 Sad day
Well it had to end sometime. Awoke yesterday morning and the temperature was - 16 c . Glanced down at the water and decided the time had come to close the cottage and dock the boat. With the tempature dropping to - 23 overnight I had to act qucik. The snow on the dock had turned to a nice cover of ice. After two trips in the boat transporting supplies to my car, I had to dock the boat for the season. This is a fiberglass beast which my trusting frosted merc can barely plane, so beaching on shore is not a option for just one or two people. Using a northern technigue, I took a good run at the dock, ran it up on the dock and then pivoted the boat with its keel parrallel to the dock. The ice made this a breaze. Then detached the motor, gave it a few cranks to drain the lU then stored it for the winter. Grabbed my canoe and paddled across the lake to my Car.
The lake froze last night from shore to shore. Just in time.
All in all not a bad season. Now if I hope I can get back in the water by April 10 or so.

Fall's been unusual here so far. Last year we had some unseasonably cold weather in Nov. with several night in the 20's (farenheit) and the rest of the winter seemed mild. This year we haven't had anything below freezing, although there've been 2 or 3 nights right around it. Today it's supposed to be 79º, so I'm gonna ride. The new lakehouse has two bays enclosed underneath and dollies the boats down into the water, so I'm probably not gonna have to even drain the Pachangas unless the temp hits teens and the electricity goes off. I'm hopin' for a mild winter here............................... I HATE COLD WEATHER.
