FYI - Purchase boat in Canada and bring to US (Customs)
If the boat and trailer are American made, this is all you need to purchase a privately owned boat from a Canadian and bring it back to the US.
1. Bill of Sale (written letter stating price of each boat and trailer with VIN and HIN included in the text)
2. DOT Sticker or plate on the trailer from the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard stating that the trailer conforms with US standards. (Plate should have FMVSS stamp on it)
3. Title/registration for boat and trailer.
American made boat/trailer is duty free when bringing it back into USA.
If you don't have the plate or stamp on the trailer, you need a letter from the manufacturer with the VIN on it stating that the trailer conforms to US DOT standards.
At Customs, you will have to fill out a Customs 7501 form. It should not take long. Then you proceed to DMV when you get home and bring that form with you to register.2004 Hydra-Sports Vector 2600 - twin 225 Yamahas

Hi Warren - I met you at the Chandos lake run right?
Do you know anyone with a big snowplow or tractor who can help me dig it out of the barn that the boat is stored in? Apparently there is 4' of snow surrounding the barn.
The original plan was that David (the owner) was going to have the boat brought to his marina so the engine could be removed and rigged on his new Allison.
If I'm going to get the boat before that snow is melted (who knows when that will be), I have to figure out a way to dig out the barn, move the other boats that are ahead of my boat, and get it to a shop where I can unbolt his motor from my boat and bolt it up to his new one.
After that, I will be more than happy to buy lots of beers!Last edited by at100plus; 03-12-2004 at 07:39 PM.

hey mike , ya that was me at chandos with my brother
I wish I did know someone that could get you out, this winter has been weird up here in that area it got a ton of snow where I am there is like nothing, and we are only talking like a 3 hour dirve apart, when were you planning on coming, because it is very rare that there is alot of snow anywhere around here in say about three weeks,
let me know and hell worse comes to worse I will meet you there and we can shovel the freakin thing out, no sense wasting prescious boating time for the sake of a little snow.,
just a guess because I am not sure exactly where david has the boat boat 3-4 weeks enough will be gone, it's supposed to get pretty warm here the next few weeks

The boat is in Washago.
Sorry to all. It has been so tropical in Windsor that I never thought about snow in Orillia.
Just to reinforce my error it has been cold the last couple of days here.
I'm certainly in with my shovel for digging.

hey david, i remember you, are you brining the allison to sean's
washago has got alot of snow, I know guys that plow, friends and familly, but when you have that much a plow won't help much
digging is the easiest, because not only is there at least 3 feet of snow it is alot of ice on top and the plow won't help much
trust me 3-4 weeks and it will almost all be gone, I am almost always boating in 6 -8 weeks and the snow is always gone way before the lakes melt

I'll probably bring the Voo Doo to Sean's again.
Unless my brother wants to come and brings his truck.
My wife's Focus can only tow a Voo Doo. My Miata won't tow the skin off pudding.

The initial plan was for me to pick it up on March 29th. I hope the snow will be gone by then but if it doesn't get warm tomorrow and stay warm that doesn't seem promising to me, that's alot of snow.

Thanks Warren, I appreciate the offer, and I just might take you up on it if things don't shape up. For now, pray for warm weather. I'm going to Florida this week. I really want to have the boat by the first week of April. Still gotta rig it and I don't want to rush. Then I gotta get some testing in before the baby is born.

SNOW
SNOW! We Dont get snow in CA. HAHAHA! Mike I just talked to my guy at my cottage on Chandos. He told me Not to come up next weekend .That the road to my place is snowed in. With ice on top. But it is melting fast. He thought that it will be gone in two to three weeks. Plan three just leave the boat as it is for now. Come up the last week of may pick it up and head over to flatouts run at Crystal lake On the 29th Party with us Saterday. We can pull the mota off that night at Sean's after dinner and a few pints. Throw the Mota on the VooDoo For David. Party some more. PASS OUT. Get up hung over and drive the 10-12hrs to home on Sunday. Sound cool? Just kidding. Hey I just found a 200ProMax, what do you think it would do on my Valaro? I hope everything works out for you. Let me know if I can help out.
Warren Sean says see you on the 29th at his place. i will see you there. Can I drive your boat PLEEEASE.
EXSTREAM EH! Gone88 Valaro YT with an open bow.

rental equipment
You could rent a loader for a day, it wouldn't take long to dig it out with a decent sized loader. It might cost ya some money but it would get your boat out.
