    ring gap question for 2.4

    trying to put togther a stock 150 2.4. cylinders were honed and have new rings from pro marine. i'm gettting ring gaps of .035 to .036. too much or what?

    Thumbs up I like'em like dat!!

    Loose motors run better than tight ones...I have found that "fine Hone'in" wit a larger ring gap, works well..."fine Hone'in=hone wit scotchbrite, after regular hone'in"...To me, .030 gap iz perfect...I know what tha book sayz, but I alwayz thought bookz wuz wrote ta start an arguement ...REX

    I run them big too, but not that big though. How much piston clearance is there. It sounds like you have a standard piston and a .010 over bore.
