    2.5 260

For sale 1992 2.5 260 EFI. Complete motor with CLE 2 holes gearcase. Power head has around 120h on it since rebuilt mostly 90% in the 3-5k rpm range. Lower has around 100h since rebuilt (Amsoil Marine 75w90 every 10-15h/year), gears, bearings, seals. Powerhead is a small bearing block that has been converted to a special big bearing setup (photos can be provided). Following some nice advices from Jay Smith at the time when I’ve done it. The block wasn’t replated even if the bore weren’t 100% thru because I wanted to test the bearing conversion before investing more in the motor. It had run flawlessly since then so I never opened it up to replate and have perfect straight bores since the boat is used for pleasure and not competition. Has 91 octane black fishing 2.5 heads because gold 260 were warped at the time of the rebuilt). Marles top pinned Mahle pistons, rod slot porting, pump cavity filled, cut front half, 7 petals cage. Digital ECU with A48 chip. The motor is not a perfect fresh rebuilt but runs very well and makes good power (94-95 mph on Cougar 21 with 2 persons, 100 lbs cargo and half tank), imho can be used as is (for at least 40-50h imo since it hasn’t been run hard, only saw 7200-7800 1-2% of the time) and/or very nice candidate for rebuild. Compression is 126-130 psi cold all around.
Comes complete with power trim pump and Bosch fuel pump.
Selling because I moved to a Vmax SHO (which I somehow regret a bit, miss the sound and lightweight of the 260 but that’s another story).

    Asking 6500 + shipping
