I like the innovative approach but I’m on the wait and see plan. So far I’ve only known of a couple running them. They seem quite pleased. It doesn’t look like enough are selling that I’ll ever own one. Kind of bummed that the only two stroke builder out there is getting punched down on so hard. Etecs are wicked motors in my experience

The under board. Everyone involved with that should be beaten with a rubber hose

It has a nice low center of gravity. But servicing has to be a nightmare. Looks like a big job to get the cover of to get to the spark plugs. And rigging? Where is the air intake? Cut a hole in the transom? Probably going to need a lot of maintenance to keep it waterproof. Especially when it gets older.

Lmao! @ the rubber hose. Perhaps. Far as I recall because we haven’t discussed this motor in quite a while I believe it doesn’t need a tune up for many many years. Possibly the time to throw it away amount of years. Etec sleds don’t use plugs, or oil for that matter. The ones that blow up are modded and abused. The ones treated sanely run and run and run. I’m also pretty sure the ghost is designed for a couple boats and that’s about it. I don’t think you can retrofit this easily to anything not built to have it hanging off the back. Anyways it all looks to be dying on the vine

The Ficht/etec injectors cannot live. It’s impossible for their plungers to last a reasonable time. Poor quality electronics was another major failure. It’s a shame because they were strong engines. This is a prime example of top management making critical decisions while not understanding engineering principles.

ficht is a different product altogether than Etec. Ficht was omc’s last grasp at clean motors. When they folded and BRP bought them they used their Rotax perfected etec on the new motors. I’ve never seen an etec system failure other than the 05-07 Mach z 1000’s which had electrical problems. There are many theories abound as to what exactly was the issue but electrical was the constant and the etec was part of it. That’s the only one that I can think of. Etec sleds rock and completely dominate the market because of it. They outperform and last way longer than the other two strokes in the sled market. Etec motors were on skidoos about five years before they bought omc and switched them over from ficht

PWC get pretty wet and their motors work. Perhaps BRP can make it work, but it seems like a limited market.

Absolute garbage. BRP strong armed the boat builders under their brand control like Manitou to floor plan models with this POS drive. Hardly any actually were sold to customers. BRP was forced to sell off all their boat brands because this junk was such a monumental failure and huge loss to their bottom line. The engine required a constant battery draw to over pressurize the lower internals in case there was a failure of a seal. Servicing required a certified BRP technician with propriety software that is not even available at most BRP dealers. Nobody is buying this junk and production numbers are next to zero.

what makes it so heavy 150lbs. heavier than a 115,looks to me like it could be used on a small hydroplane and work pretty good if it went on a diet! I always thought a pwc with a prop would be real fast!

I guess you call all your friend tell them to bring knee pads so they can look at your new motor or maybe scuba gear if the boats in the water.
    Enjoy Life Keith
