...yes beer can island. if you look at that last overhead photo mr. fun, they call it sandspur island now i guess. but yes, everyone used to hang out there & totally trash the place. think they made it off limits for the last 20 years because of that. know all about the apache powerboats/fort apache/apache bar & grill/cigarette/ tempest/magnum/team usa/squadron/cougar/pantera canal(s) close by, back in the day. have taken off to seatrail many new offshores coming out of those canals wide open, taking a hard right, going by the shooters at the n.e. 163rd bridge(when it was there) sometimes at 100 plus m.p.h. going to the inlet to get outside. that whole area has radically changed to the point of unrecognizability...

On a south east wind and out going tide I submarined my checkmate in Boca Inlet when I hit the first wave I went up and the second wave came over the deck at that time reflexes hit the throttle and I came out of the wave on top had a foot of water in the boat. Wasn't skill it was luck.

as a professional Mariner I have a Healthy Respect for Mother O , won't put everybody to sleep with sea stories , She does not play favor to anyone . the time I spent surfing in High School I belive helped me at being able to set myself up in a Vessel .

on the other topic I used to run the Billboard boat for the Bar I belive was called Shenagans all around the sandbar, and also was required to assist with the Lingerie contests , Tough Duty but Im a giver , what can I say , Badda Boom
