    1350 Frankenmerc

First nice day of the year. A very short video of a 0 to 60mph run.

I built the boat, purchased the engine. The engine was conceived and built by Doc Frankenmerc, who some on here may know. I'll list some of the modifications below. He did a ton of mods, many of which I don't understand, but can appreciate!!

    1) Top hat and cowl from a 1960 800DR
    2) Engine pan (and mid?) from a 1962-64 1000 short shaft
    3) Power head from a 1971 1350 ... completely rebuilt with 0.040" Wiseco pistons, new bearings, seals and water jacket machine work, etc. Enrichener added.
    4) LU is a 1350 1.78:1

Significant cutting and welding were required to allow the power head to fit into the early '60's housings. Cooling and exhaust considerations also required significant cutting and welding to the internal sections of the pan and mid. A portion of the top hat was cut away to allow for fitment over the power head. Fuel pump housings were milled thinner to allow for cowl fitment. Ignition parts re-located. Power head is rotated slightly in pan to fit, etc.

I've added hydraulic steering, Hot Foot throttle, blinker style trim control, fabricated a mechanical trim gauge actuator and indicator, plugged top 2 water inlet holes, rewired to start in gear, gauges (GPS speedo, water pressure, volt meter, tach, fuel).

This engine is a piece of art and I think the boat complements it nicely

    Beautiful Boat & Motor!
    Just out of curiosity-
what is that fitting on the starboard transom?
it appears to be a railing stantion mounted sideways?

Thanks! Your are correct, it is a railing stanchion. I used it to route the original single cable Teleflex steering cable up to the engine. Now that I have hydraulic steering, I'm trying to figure out what to put there.
    Not sure what to do!
