Just a guess here. Maybe the designer thought it would track a bit straighter, and less likely to spin in a corner.
Have you run it? If so, how does it work?

Just finished the core and floor, and starting to rig it.
It'll be a few months. My last stream was a Valero YT, so totally different beast.
We'll see...
Thanks.

I'm thinking someone added those angles to try to add more lift to get up on the pad easier.

From Hydrostream.com
a vacuum was created in this back area - air couldn't get in and water couldn't get out and it was like dragging a pocket of water around until the hull could eventually break loose. It took quite a few hours of testing to figure out the cause of the problem and the resulting solution, some of which had Pipkorn leaning over the transom analyzing the situation while underway. HydroStream's answer was to add two short strips of aluminum underneath. These would push the water back down and prevent the water from coming up around the edges to form a seal.

Ahh, I found the article.
Interesting read.
The hull is gonna be basic, just a floor, two seats, the fuel tank, battery and rigging. 8" manual plate, if this motor build runs like my last build, should spin a blueprinted 28hill 4blade.
7000rpm. Should "break free" pretty easy.
And yeah, it's a moderately...lol, modified mid 90's OMC 3L...
Thanks for your comments.

OK, I got my build broken in. The Vegas Vee Pad is definitely different than the YT, which i knew it would be. I've got 8" set back, center of shaft even with the pad. Launches good with moderate aeration until the prop hooks, then up trim... around 40ish the hull literally breaks free from the suction discussed above. With a corresponding increase in speed. Around 65 starts flying nice, above 75, it tracks real well. The YT was affected by cross winds, or any winds a lot more above 75.
Although, like most Vees, it takes a lot of wheel movement up top. I've been able to manage a run at 85mph@ 6550rpm. Almost negative trim. Part throttle... I need more seat time! I hope to turn it to 7200, and it definitely feels doable.
Running a balanced and blade matched signature 28p Eagle 4. Boat is empty, one seat plus what's necessary.
Very Thrilling, fun ride!
My port work and all the little stuff added up. Thanks to the unnamed OMC Guru in FL, for the port specs.
One healthy '92 looper!

Vegas V Pad on it the water today.
Had it to 90 @ a little above 6800.
Happy with stability, wheel and throttle inputs are becoming automatic.
I still have more pedal to go.
It's definitely exhilarating! I don't think I need to go over 7k. Although I ported it for 7k+, many hours blending and filling intake everywhere I could, 147 compression, and I have CCM's race reeds.
When i lift and the bow comes down it gets Thrilling. If i lift real slow not so much, but if i come across a boat wake from across the lake and lift, it gets a little more sketchy.
Would raising the motor help with the sudden nose drop?
Or should I just try it and see?
I'm just pretty happy with the top end feel now, considering I'm running dual cable rack with the nfb disabled, no torque steer issues.
I am running a full size tab.
Man, that looper intake breathing at close to 7k brings on a big smile...

90 is impressive for a Vegas for sure congrats! The higher you jack the less brake effect you get from letting out but it also greatly increase risk of blowout so be careful. The only method that really works is to gently roll out at speeds above 80 just ease back and lay the hull back down slowly or it can really grab and unsettle. It’s not an instinctual thing I have to admit. It is a learned skill but like everything else with these boats seat time is the best recipe. Have fun and stay safe

Right easing out is about the only way along with a quick steering input. If I am running super high on height I run the motor down as I ease out of it.
