There are so many boats planning to be at this event the organizer tells me he hopes to be finished with all eliminations by 6 pm! That would be 6 hours of "outlaw drag boat racing". I'd bet there will be lots of grudge match racing afterwards, too.

Everything is being done to encourage first timers to get out there and make a pass, or two.

The weather was uncooperative Friday afternoon and Saturday morning for testing, but some took place in-between rain showers. There was way more entries than last year, but less spectators, again due to the inclement weather on Saturday. The location was just great, with the finish line being just a little ways above Soap Creek Marina. The marina landing was busy with boats putting in and taking out, but it was very convenient.

Starting time was supposed to be at 12 noon but was delayed due to rain. The rain finally let up enough to run and there were some fast boats there. I'm unsure if all the classes were able to be completed but the organizers were determined to see the KOTH class be able to run, which they did. The 2025 KOTH champion is Bill Butler in his new-to-him blue boat running a beast of a motor, a V8 OMC. This was his first race with it and to say it was impressive was an understatement. He won out over blown V8 V-drives and jet drives in the finals. That beast just launches. He told me the torque it has is hard to explain in words. Said Bill, "You nail it and hope your aimed in the right direction".

Southeastern racers will be contending with this blue beast for some time, I predict. It is just awesome.

    Bob from Charlotte's Allison

    A beautiful, local V21

A 22' twin 280 powered Talon from FL. 130 mph boat.

    A blown Warhorse?

A shot of the course looking toward the starting line.

Bill Glisson crossing the finish line in the eliminations.

And, the KOTH, Butler's blue beast.
